I think about it, but only because I've experienced how detrimental it can be firsthand.
I think that is the reason why we have the term on me in addition to each of our whole lifes...although we are thinking about dropping it to $100k just to lower the premium a bit but still keep my rating (I got super preferred...whee!woot)

Awesome, sounds like you got it all covered! It's always good to keep the rating - it's CRAZY how much it goes up as you get older. Like just term life in your 40s or 50s can be well over $100 a month. Faint

The only people that I know might be able to receive double death benefit when they die during the working hours are the CEOs of previous AIG group.

fireman.
Check with your current insurer - if you have your auto/home with one company, they'll usually give you a substantial discount on both for also having a life policy.

With some of our clients, because they had a home and a couple autos, we actually wrote a life policy for them that made them money - in other words, the cost the of the life policy was less than the discount they received on their other insurance.

Have your agent (if you don't have one, you can certainly find one to meet with) explain the different type of life policies they offer, and MAKE him or her iron out all the details, so you know exactly what you're paying for.

Just do a little research, make sure the company you go through is reputable. Most of the larger ones are.
