If so, do you recommend it? why?

I'm trying to get an suv before winter starts but i'm unsure of what to get. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

TIA

It proves AWD doesn't mean anything if you don't have a set of capable tires to go with it.
Umn... no. It proves that if you have an idiot as the driver, AWD doesn't do anything. I bet even if you put studded snow tires, that idiot would still do donuts.

That 2nd video doesn't prove anything. The driver floors it and doesn't let go of the gas laugh out loud That's not how you realistically drive in the snow.
And the first video just proves that it is important to be the first one home before everyone else packs the damned snow into a layer of ice. I notice they don't go back and show the Suburban easily making it up the driveway after it is all shined up. laugh out loud

Not saying that tires aren't important but if you are going to try and prove something you should show the same vehicle with all three sets of tires doing exactly the same thing under the same conditions.

Iagree 100%.

Wait, I mean ugh... he's comparing 3 different vehicles with 3 different tires at 3 different times, so obviously the snow tires are what makes the first car go up the driveway!

Disagree but Iagree

Not sure what the point the video is making - Winter tires are better than summer tires for driving in snow irrespective of the vehicle....captain obvious moment?

Which video? The first one? I thought the point was that winter tires on a big SUV > summer tires on a small SUV after the big SUV packs the snow (as the bunny said) laugh out loud Dontknow

My point is that there wasn't a point worth pointing!

I just realized that video sucks since it's not same car. But AWD + Snow/Winter Tires = Win inthe Winter.

This I can agree with, with the caveat:

And to add some more confusion to the mix--the type of AWD/4WD system can be as important as the tires.

^ true that. The AWD system on many small SUV's is not that good. Still, it is better than FWD alone. To me, it goes AWD/4x4 + winter tires > FWD + winter tires > AWD/4x4 > FWD, along with Max's caveat of Driver > anything else.

I still like this video comparing different AWD/4x4 vehicles, probably because I own an Audi allroad:

My car:

with winter/all terrain tires:
