Not gonna happen. If there's no discernable difference to buying offline versus online, then why bother with the added expense of shipping charges(since I refuse to pay $80 a year for Amazon Prime) if I can get things in stores for the same price with the same tax.

About the only thing I might consider buying online are HDMI cables versus in store where the big retail outlets know most people are farkin' idiots and pay $40 for one.

Seriously, while Amazon may hurt a bit from this, buying from them in many situations is still substantially cheaper, comes with less hassle, and generally they have a larger variety.

even if Amazon is slightly more expensive, you have to factor the cost of gas and wear and tear on your vehicle to drive to the B&M store, find a place to park, spend 15 minutes trying to locate the item you are looking for, stand in line at the checkout counter, get back to your car, drive back home....not to mention you have to get dressed and go out..before you know it, it took you about an hour from the time you decided to go buy something from the store, to the time you got back to your home...if for the same price, (but usually cheaper), you get to shop from your PC, cellphone, or tablet while sitting in your underwear, or even on "the royal throne", and have the item show up at your door a few days later, it's a no brainer...

moreover, you also get to use coupon codes (easily found via google if you dont have them already) and cash back websites on your online purchases that you can not do with a B&M purchase.

the only exception is if it is something you need right away, and you absolutely can not wait a couple of days for it to be shipped to you...but that is very rare...99% of the time I can wait a couple of days for whatever it is I need.

Except that I only ever buy gaming items from Amazon and they have had the crappiest prices lately. That's why I'm burning my last bit of credit there and I'm done with them for good due to the 6% sales tax tacked onto everything now. Besides which, I deal hunt for other items I need too and most times what I'm looking for is cheaper at a B&M store versus Amazon.

Not to mention there's also the shipping costs from Amazon, since I still do refuse to pay the $80 a year for Prime since I would never use the video streaming and there are very few items I'd ever want in two days.

So for me my statement stands.

I get Amazon gift cards for working on GPT (Get Paid To) sites. I just got two front tires for my car FREE with no shipping charge since I spent over $25, and no sales tax was charged.

You can get the free trial for Prime Shipping (if you haven't used it before), to get priority shipping. Just be sure to cancel before the trial is over. Otherwise, spend $25 with Amazon (not one of their partner sellers) to get free shipping. Free is always better, and if you don't like what you buy, they e-mail you a pre-paid postage label so you can send the item back for free.

That's the thing though. There's no codes or way to make the amount LOWER to get the free shipping. Sometimes there's a lot less than $25 worth of stuff you want to buy on there and then you have to shell out whatever the shipping charge is OR buy up to $25 and then hope you can use the rest of the crap.

But I've used at least one free Prime trial already, so I'm SOL pretty much.

I earn hundreds of dollars in gift cards, so I don't mind paying a few bucks more to get stuff for free. Amazon will price match, so if I found the tires cheaper on-line they would have matched it. Problem was, no one could. Maybe in store, but then I would have had to spend over $200 in real money to "save" a few bucks. Amazon sells everything, so I'm never at a loss as to how to reach $25!
