Mitt Romney strapped family dog to roof of his car for a 12 hour road trip... Senate Democrats hit Mitt Romney for strapping family dog to roof of car for 12-hour road trip [dailykos.com] Mitt Romney's Dog Incident Comes Back To Haunt Him (PHOTO) [huffingtonpost.com] Seamus, the Romney family dog who was strapped to the roof of the Romney's station wagon for 12-hour drive up to Canada. Yes, you read that right: Mitt Romney placed the family dog in a car carrier and strapped him onto the roof of his car. For twelve hours. On the highway. You'll forgive the dog for having dirtied the windows of the car with a bout of diarrhea. Wouldn't you be scared if you were put all alone into a box strapped atop a car going 60 or 70 miles per hour? Now that Democrats have made brought this up in the campaign, I'm curious to see how the Republican establishment will defend Romney's decision. Maybe they'll accuse Democrats of being Communists for raising questions about Romney's treatment of his dog. Or perhaps they'll fall back on Freedom with a capital "F" and defend the Tenth Amendment right to carry your dog wherever you damn well please. But one thing I'm sure of: They won't defend Romney's judgment. Because on this, there really is no defense. --- Last edited by NM 156; 01-11-2012 at 05:23 AM.. Romney's Cruel Canine Vacation [time.com]
The reporter intended the anecdote that opened part four of the Boston Globe's profile of Mitt Romney to illustrate, as the story said, "emotion-free crisis management": Father deals with minor — but gross — incident during a 1983 family vacation, and saves the day. But the details of the event are more than unseemly — they may, in fact, be illegal. The incident: dog excrement found on the roof and windows of the Romney station wagon. How it got there: Romney strapped a dog carrier — with the family dog Seamus, an Irish Setter, in it — to the roof of the family station wagon for a twelve hour drive from Boston to Ontario, which the family apparently completed, despite Seamus's rather visceral protest. Massachusetts's animal cruelty laws specifically prohibit anyone from carrying an animal "in or upon a vehicle, or otherwise, in an unnecessarily cruel or inhuman manner or in a way and manner which might endanger the animal carried thereon." An officer for the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals responded to a description of the situation saying "it's definitely something I'd want to check out." --- |

So the boogeyman of the week is Romney now? Santorum's brief appearance is over now, right?
You know what I heard? If Romney wins the presidency, he will rewrite the Constitution such that all Americans are under the LDS. Last edited by Hawk2007; 01-11-2012 at 06:22 AM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost The truth: Management at IRS can blame themselves and how they have chaotic and poor management, but God-forbid you, or I, or anybody else in America gets audited and doesn't have their ducks in order and s***-together, your ass is going to court or jail.
Shout out to Congressman Mike Kelly for stating it as it is... Link [realclearpolitics.com] |
