Why Won’t Romney Release More Tax Returns?

Even if your unsubstantiated belief is true, I'm sure either it was an honest mistake and he just forgot to declare income/took an incorrect deduction or he used Turbotax and it was all screwed up.

I have a strong suspicion that you are an every man for himself guy too just like Romney and just don't want to admit it.

If embarrassments disqualify someone from running for President then Obama would have been out of the running a long time ago.

No true liberal is "every man for himself."We understand that everyone is one unlucky break away from catastrophy.

In general, people see the motives in others that motivate themselves.

IE. when you say others are motivated only by self-interest, that is a strong indicator that it is you who is motivated by self-interest.

Obviously you aren't a true liberal then since you are in favor of "every man for himself". You accused Romney and myself of being in favor of this theory but let me refer you to Nic's law. It is a little pearl of wisdom I picked up.

Mitt Romney has been determined to resist releasing his tax returns at least since his bid for Massachusetts governor in 2002 and has been confident that he will never be forced to do so, several current and former Bain executives tell The Huffington Post. Had he thought otherwise, say the sources based on their longtime understanding of Romney, he never would have gone forward with his run for president.

If the scrutiny that Romney's 2010 taxes have already undergone is any indication, his fears are well placed. The filing indicated a Swiss bank account -- unprecedented for a presidential candidate -- which added to the image of a wealthy man unfamiliar with ordinary people's limitations. Bain filings show that several of its companies set up shop in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, places known as tax havens.

Someday political scientists will try to date the decline of reasoned discourse in America to the moment when the left and the right began to invent their own facts. Climate change deniers, the purveyors of lies linking abortion to breast cancer, and creationists will all be blamed for the end of meaningful debate between liberals and conservatives. But that’s not quite right. The real end of civic discourse can be traced to the new conservative argument that facts themselves are dangerous.

It’s a dangerous contention not just for what it hides, but also for what it reveals: a lack of any other arguments.

It’s tough times for facts in America. First Mitt Romney—interviewing for the position of president—declined to release his tax returns because, as he explained, the Obama team’s opposition research will “pick over it” and “distort and lie about them.” He isn’t actually claiming that his opponents will lie. He’s claiming he’s entitled to hide the truth because it could be used against him. As Jon Stewart put it, “You can’t release your returns, because if you do, the Democrats will be mean to you.” These are tax returns. Factual documents. No different than, say, a birth certificate. But the GOP’s argument that inconvenient facts can be withheld from public scrutiny simply because they can be used for mean purposes is a radical idea in a democracy. It has something of a legal pedigree as well.

What? I'm serious here. Was there a reasonable explanation for deducting all of that money for dressage horses?

If you believe it was therapy for Ann's MS.....I guess an ordinary horse would not do, it had to be one which could dance. And enter contests.....

and Liberals get angry about when Obama was asked to release his long form birth certificate?

I don't care one way or another, but it could be used for medical purposes therefore tax deductible to the extent of the law.....
