Images of NRA, Congressional Republicans on the decline
Of course some would have us believe that's "the media's" fault and not irresponsible gun owners whose guns fall into the wrong hands. |

NRA: 100,000 new members after Sandy Hook shooting [politico.com]
I think the NRA will take membership, money, and influence over image. |

Let's do some research to see if there is a correlation between drivers of high-lifted pick up trucks, owners of assault type weapons, lack of intelligence, and of course small male members. Maybe some of you pseudo intellectuals can wiki it. |

It's very likely that the 2nd amendment protections the NRA stands for aren't even the reason for the decrease in popularity, but rather the idiotic advocacy of putting cops in every single school in the country. |

The NRA seems to have ailenated a lot of the public with its recent opposition to even the most minimal gun control measures. I don't think most of its own membership agrees with them either. They might bounce back a little, but people seem especially fed up with them this time.
As for Congressional Republicans, the Dems would gladly accept control of the House from them in 2014. Voters sent a message to Republicans in this last election and it was not -- "you are not conservative enough." |
|
The NRA takes a hard stance because they don't want the 2nd amendment to fall victim to the slippery slope and the incremental erosion of rights over time.
Time to stop the war.....on businesses and individual success!

NRA put their lifetime membership on sale, from $1000 down to $300. But the bottom line is this: does anyone here thing the NRA reaction (including Lapierr's news conf) is helping their PR? When recently this questions was asked, a poster claimed it was a loaded question but in reality it is a very straightforward question. |

Example: they are for a law that says it is illegal for a private seller to a "known" (wink wink) felon. Then when that crappy law does not work they will then use that fact and resist meaningful laws that would have a chance of working, laws such as requiring BGCs for all sales. This is a gut-feeling of mi the mostly until now un-engaged middle of the road people do not quite believe that the CT shooter guy could have walked into a flea mark and bought till the weapons that he used in his massacre. Most people heat that but don't quite believe it and it does not quite sick in because of all the publicity and half truths by the NRA and other gun enthusiasts. But perhaps the time is now right/ripe for the people in the middle to finally truly understand and for this unbelievable fact to sink that the CT killer could have walked in a flea market and get those weapons and when that happens restrictions on gun buy and sale will follow no matter how mu ch NRA and other gun enthusiasts would then whine and moan. |
