I think this is partially where my problem lies.. If they were to forcibly take the money from him.. they'd run it. But if he offers it up (knowing the price ahead of time), they're unsure if it's even possible??? The more they speak on this issue, causes it to continue being uncovered as a cheap political stunt.

Maybe Obama should just charge admission.. just like an amusement park. Then people would be even angrier though (even though it would actually make more sense).

I have to cringe every time I hear the term “"public servant”. Although I don’t know where the term originated I do know I have heard to over used and abused by our beloved Congressmen and women.

Ever notice how the Legislators who refer to themselves as “public servants” are generally the ones who act like anything but.

Does anyone really think our President or ANY of the Legislators (with the possible exceptions of a few rookies) have our best interest in mind or their own when they make policy or laws? If you do please let me know who you are because I have some prie land between Georgia and Florida I would like to sell you.

Of course it really doesn’t matter too much when so many of the voting electorate, or should I say, so many of those who actually vote, are ignorant and/or apathetic to what’s going on. How the only thing that matters to them is party affiliation, race, or whatever they “learn” from a sound bite on TV.

The American public may be making sacrifices but our beloved President and his family sure aren’t.

Wonder how many days we could support the tours just in what this “vacation” cost the American taxpayer.

4% increase for 0bamacare is only.04 on the dollar, no big deal......

2% sequester.....

And the sheep don't care ... the people needs to stop complaining .. we deserve everything we get .. or don't get.

The only reason Congress is throwing a fit, is cause this is a perk that Congressmen get to hand out to their supporters.

More significantly because the political approach taken by the Obama administration to promote such visible, popular things as casualties of the sequester makes it very easy to compare/contrast their costs versus other non-critical spending. Which then just highlights issues re the whole size and priorities of government thing more generally.

Poor strategic poker playing by the Obama team on this one and the Republican have been basically eating their lunch in the public perception battle as a result. As above, no White House tours, yet the kids can go to the Bahamas? Every time the Administration comes out saying "Oh no, this is going to get cut!", they just counter by saying why cut that when there are all of these other lower priority things which could be cut instead? And there are virtually endless trump cards that they can play in that game.
