"In order to be eligible for this benefit, the student must attend a school that has purchased Office organization-wide for all faculty/staff via the Microsoft Volume Licensing program."
It can be helpful to add in alphabetical order!! I cleaned up a few, but more to do.. thanks
Seriously, you guys suck at alphabetizing.
The school email address does not necessary have to end in .edu. My high school uses gmail and it works! @student.cfschools.org
If your university email is not accepted there are other variations of email you can use.
For EXAMPLE @appstate.edu is not accepted, but @email.appstate.edu will work since thats how the email is issued by the University. Give another try with different variations of the email depending on your University.
@appstate.edu (Will work if you use @email.appstate.edu)
@binghamton.edu (alumni accounts)
@clemson.edu (@alumni.clemson.edu works)
@columbia.edu (morningside campus)
@uci.edu (works for CS majors through ics domain) (also works for alumni.uci.edu domain)
@ucla.edu (on accepted list too, though; go figure)
@umn.edu <---works if you use @tc.umn.edu
@usc.edu (Use @gapps.usc.edu, check account by clicking your email at the top right and it should list your alternative emails with @gapps.usc.edu)
@wgu.edu------->Use @my.wgu.edu it works!!!
@wright.edu (I'm an Alumni though)
@aggiemail.usu.edu **USU does not participate in this program and it will not work even if it takes your email address.
@berkeley.edu (as of Oct)
@alum.bu.edu (for BU alumnis)
@buckeyemail.osu.edu (I am a grad student, tried but not working )
@columbia.edu (medical campus)
@go.shoreline.edu (Use e-mail address & password.)
@sjsu.edu <Did not work for me on 9/23/14 <Worked for me (diff. guy) on 9/29
@union.edu (also @alumni.union.edu)
@mail.USF.edu (says not listed )
@wisc.edu (edit: what department? I [undergrad] tried, and it didn't work)
WARNING: DO NOT INSTALL USING LINK FROM EMAIL
In order to correctly activate, you must go through the settings tab at the top of the website. This method seems to be having issues, so there may be no way to install/activate at this moment.
It will allow you to have office365 (Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus) installed and activated on 5 devices (and you can change/deactivate devices anytime you want)
Apparently if you click to the link on your .edu email then register then download a installer file (setupo365proplusretail.x86.en-us_.exe ~1MB) and install it, it will not let you activate the program on your machine.
You have to go to the setting (on your online portal, click yo the gear icon on top right coner then Office 365 setting) then select Software tab / Office tab (these pages may take a while to load/install/connect-verify your machine ....) then click install, you will be prompted to down load a installer file (file maybe included the unique activation key XXXX or smt like that, named such as Setup.X86.en-us_O365ProPlusRetail_XXXXXXXX_.exe)
Install it and you good to go, Your installed devices are appear on this page also, see pictures below for more details:
FYI regard the installation
Office 365 needs to finish the service provision process. It may take up to 4 hours! to finish the process. Therefore, wait until the installation files appear under the software tab in office 365 website, do not install the office from the front page, you need to click on the gear icon in the top right hand corner and choose "Office 365 Settings" then Click "Software" to get the installation files (again may take up to 4 hrs to appear)
If you wish to install it on Android tablet, you will need to put .apk files directly to install it.
To get .apk file, you can probably find it online somewhere or get it from your android phone. If you have root access, you can copy the apk, send it to your tablet. Install and sigh-in with .edu account.
If you haven't rooted your phone. Try these steps. Worked just fine for me
1. Download "Microsoft Office Mobile" https://play.google.com/store/app....officehu
2. Download Apk share apps such as "MyAppSharer" https://play.google.com/store/app...yAppShare
3. Open MyAppSharer and check "Microsoft Office Mobile" from the list, select "APK" and "Share". It will ask how you want to share the file (send via email, google drive, drop box, etc).
4. Download and install the .apk file on your tablet. Log in with .edu email and done! You can add multiple onedrive once office is installed such as your personal account and school/business account.
Hope this helps someone!
WARNING: "Who manages the OneDrive account provided with this offer?
This account is associated with the school and should be used for school-appropriate content, such as homework and schoolwork.
Permissions and access can be changed by the school's IT administrator at any time."
YOUR FILES ARE NOT PRIVATE!!
How long can I use this plan for?
If you are eligible, you can use the plan until you graduate or are no longer enrolled at a qualified school. Student eligibility may be re-verified at any time. At expiration, the Office applications enter a reduced-functionality mode, which means documents can be viewed but it isn't possible to edit or create new documents. In addition, online services associated with the school email address, for example Office Online and OneDrive, will no longer work.
As of 8:25am PST
For those who have been having trouble w/ office saying Setting up Office... When set up is done, install Office from this page.

Quote :Thanks to everyone who has signed up and installed Office 365 Education for Students. We are excited to see the response and we are monitoring feedback to make sure students have a great experience.
If you are not able to activate your Office 365 installation, please try activating again in 10 minutes using the same email address and password. If you are still experiencing an activation issue, please post your question below.
Status Update 22-Sept 19:24 UTC -8: We are actively investigating reports that some students are experiencing difficulty in activating Office 365 Education for Students. As soon as we have an update we will post to this forum. In the meantime, we want to remind everyone that you have 5 days to activate Office and can use all the features and functionality that Office provides. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Status Update 23-Sept 01:58 UTC -8: Engineers have identified the source of the issue and are in the process of implementing a fix. No ETA at this point.
Status Update 23-Sept (8:11 am PDT): Unfortunately due to an unforeseen issue some students have run into a delay activating the Office ProPlus clients after download. We have investigated the issue and are currently finalizing an update to the service. In the meantime, to ensure students have a great experience we will disable new students signing up for the offer for a few hours while we deploy the update. New students regardless of eligibility will see the following message: "Sorry, your school isn't on our list of eligible institutions. We'll check to make sure the list is up to date, so try again in a few days…"
Users who have installed Office on Windows have a 5-day grace period in which all features and functionality are available. After installing Office, affected Windows users can close the activation sign-in page to continue using Office until we resolve the problem. We're sorry, but there is no workaround for Mac/iPad users.
We are working to update the service as soon as possible. Once the service is updated, new students will be able to sign-up and students who already installed Office (on Windows, Mac, and iPad) will be able to activate successfully.

The engineering team have successfully implemented a fix, which has resolved the underlying root cause of the issue. As the backlogged provisioning requests are processed, users will begin to experience the service restoration.
Could you wait for a while for the service restoration, and then check whether you can activate your Office installation? If the issue persists after waiting for a while, please don't hesitate to get back to us for further assistance. We appreciate all your time and patience.

After further investigation, the engineering team have identified that the previous fix has partially addressed the cause of the issue. And now they're working on a plan to fully remediate the issue from the server side. We'll keep you updated in this thread once there is any progress. Thanks for all your continued time and patience.
Quote :Status Update 24-Sept 10:44 UTC: Good news, the majority of users should now be able to activate Office 365 clients. To activate open Word, Excel or PowerPoint and enter the credentials you used to sign up when prompted.

Engineers have deployed configuration change within the affected environment to provision the remaining backlog in an expedited fashion. The majority of provisioning requests have been processed and most customers should be able to activate Office 365 ProPlus without delays. Engineers are continuing to work to completely clear out the issue. In case you are still experiencing the issue, please wait for some time and check the issue later. You will begin to get the service as the backlogged provisioning requests are processed.
Thank you all for your patience.
Quote :Hi Everyone,
Thank you for continuing reporting the issue to us. While the majority of users are able to activate Office 365 ProPlus without delays, engineers are still developing a solution for a subset of users that remain affected by the issue. We will continue to update the thread as we have further update.
