Ok, so for once being a Disneyworld fan actually *saved* me some money!

While poking around looking for good deals on rental cars to go to Disneyworld (Orlando), I found the following page

http://www.mousesavers.com/national.html - Note: Everything you see here is a repost of the info found on this site so it is subject to change at ANY time.

On it is a number of excellent money saving tips for travelling and staying at the various Disney properties, but more particularly in this case it unearthed some money saving options for National Car Rental. I completed the enrollment with no problem, then used the VISA INTERNATIONAL Contract ID to get full insurance coverage and a one-way, one-day rate of $38.50 (taxes includes, no gas) from West Palm Beach to Orlando dropping off at the Disney Car Care Center right on the property!

FREE EMERALD CLUB ENROLLMENT (Normally $50, no annual fees) - Benefits include bypassing check-in line, choosing your preferred car from whatever is available in the Emerald Club section of the lot, and other benefits listed on the National Car website. *NOTE* - There may be numerous ways to enroll for free, which there often are for these programs, so this is just one way of doing it.

1. Click on http://www.nationalcar.com/offer/SBS2006 to go through the Emerald Club enrollment process.

2. One the National page, click on the "go! Enroll Now!" link on the upper left side and you'll be taken through the enrollment process.

3. After putting your personal registration info in, you will eventually end up at a page that lets you confirm that the enrollment fee has been waived.

4. After enrollment, you will get a confirmation email with your number, then you can go back and create a login/password to get into the Emerald Club section of the site and you're good to go!

IF for whatever reason the link does not work, you can try using this link [nationalcar.com] to get directly to the offer. No guarantees on how long this specific link will work, and author claims no responsibility if the redirect on SD does not work on the link!

CURRENT COUPONS - Reposted from the Mousesavers Site

Open to Anyone

Contract ID 5000304 is for Wal-Mart customers (in other words, anyone) and provides up to 20% off.

Contract ID 5504966 appears on the Wal-Mart edition of the Rand-McNally Atlas. No proof of purchase needed.

Contract ID 3715444 is reportedly for readers of Car & Driver magazine.

Contract ID NCRLESS is sometimes worth a try. This is an ongoing Internet promotion at National and is typically good for rentals within the next couple of months.

Requires Membership

AAA members can use Contract ID 6100253. Be sure to bring your AAA membership card with you.

AARP (up to 30% off) for members only (you must be 50 or older). See the AARP web site for the ID number.

AirTran Airways Contract ID is 6600422 - you may need to belong to this airline's frequent flyer program to qualify, but it's free to join.

Alaska Airlines Contract ID is 5004076 - you must belong to this airline's frequent flyer program to qualify, but it's free to join.

American Airlines Contract ID is 5036929 - you must belong to this airline's frequent flyer program to qualify, but it's free to join.

Continental Airlines Contract ID is 5007160 - you must belong to this airline's frequent flyer program to qualify, but it's free to join.

Delta Airlines Contract ID is 5000302 - you must belong to this airline's frequent flyer program to qualify, but it's free to join.

Emerald Club members can use Contract ID 5007125.

Entertainment Book owners get a special Contract ID that frequently provides excellent discounts on the base rate and can be combined with the very good coupons also included in the book.

Northwest Airlines Contract ID is 5037153 - you must belong to this airline's frequent flyer program to qualify, but it's free to join.

United Airlines Contract ID is 2700075 - you must belong to this airline's frequent flyer program to qualify, but it's free to join.

Visa Card International Contract ID is 8572987. This is a great ID because it is valid internationally and in addition to providing up to a 20% a discount on your base rate, it includes many fees that can add to the cost of your rental. For instance, on an Orlando rental I found it covered the Loss Damage Waiver, Supplemental Liability Insurance, Concession Fee Recovery Charge, Florida Surcharge, Tire/Battery Fee and License Recoupment Fee. Reservations must be made in advance and are subject to availability. Certain blackout dates may apply. Discount may not be combined with any other discounted or promotional rate. National Car Rental’s standard terms and conditions of rental from the renting country plus driver and insurance qualifications apply. Offer available only to Visa cardholders when paying with their Visa card at time of rental.

Warehouse Clubs like Sam's Club and BJ's Wholesale Club may have contract IDs - if you belong to one of these, check with your local store.

Other affinity groups (universities, bar associations, etc) may have Contract IDs with negotiated rates - if your organization offers free Emerald Club memberships, it almost certainly has its own Contract ID.

There are also a number of printable coupons and and more detailed instructions on how to do various redemptions. Hope this is of help to a few of y'all!

I did not think that there was a charge for emerald club. I signed up a couple of months ago for free without ever seeing anything about fees.

Just assumed that other folks on SD knew about it.

But for those who aren't aware, it's a great site -- not just for saving on Disney (which is a great source of information for that), but as the poster suggests, also great for getting rental car discounts

use this contract ID : 8572957 or 8572967
and this coupon : NWEBCPN027

I managed to rent a chevy trailblazer for a week for $175 all inclusive tax, insurance etc.

Update : the 8572957 code appears to have expired, but the 8572967 still works.

Yeah HUGE discount.
AND if you are concerned with having to provide proof, just join the emerald club and you don't even have to check in when you pick up

That deal is amazing. I just booked an SUV with that code for a week for $177.22, which is less than half of my current reservation with National. My question is, do you know what the contract ID and coupon code specifically refer to, just in case. Usually, from prior experience, national requires coupons at the time of rental, emeald club or not. If you dont want to say in the thread, feel free to PM me with the info. Repped!!!

Thank you for your help! I read that as an Emerald Club, you can pick any intermediate car in the designated area...however, when i try to book online, they don't say "intermediate" rather economy, compact, midsize, fullsize.....which do i pick??
