Discover Announces Apple Pay Availability and 10% Cashback BonusĀ® Offer
http://investorrelations.discover...ID=2086665

The Apple Pay bonus will not post until 2 full statement cycles after the beginning of the promotion. Some users are starting to report the 10% bonus.

GIFT CARDS ARE EXCLUDED. Discover updated their terms on 9/18. Some users are reporting their legitimate purchases are being flagged as giftcard purchases. The assumption so far is Discover still cannot clearly identify and separate giftcard transactions, but instead are marking certain transactions as giftcard transactions. Some users have to scan their receipts to prove that they were legitimate purchases. It looks like they are flagging purchases from certain stores, that exceed certain amounts and they are probably picking up purchase patterns as well.

AT&T appears to not even attempt a charge re-submission after an attempt is declined even after Discover clears up the issue.

Live Now. 10% back only available in-store, not for in-app purchases.

What cards are eligible and other helpful information [discover.com]

Device compatibility:
  • iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus. (iPhone 5/5s/5c by itself is not compatible)
  • Apple Watch (Paired with iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, or iPhone 5s.)
  • REQUIRES iOS 9. You will not be able to add your Discover card unless you have iOS 9.
Double cashback bonus
  • After a year, Discover will double all the cashback earned during the first year your account was open.
  • Everything, including the 10%, will double.
  • The promotion have been extended through the end of 2015 for new cards.
  • Existing customers may not add the promotion or convert their current card to double cashback. A second Discover card is a possibility for some.
Other promotions
Basically everything stacks, except the quarterly 5% replaces the standard 1% as usual.
IT with Double and Apple Pay: 2 * (10% + 1%) = 22%
Miles with Double and Apple Pay: 2 * (10% + 1.5%) = 23%
IT with Double and Apple Pay at a department store: 2 * (10% + 5%) = 30%

Refferral Bonus
New members can get a $50 sign up bonus for the Discover IT card for three months on time payments when you use a referral link. The referrer also gets $50. Both are doubled after a year. (unconfirmed duh.)

Stores that accept Apple Pay:10/22/15 UPDATE _ BEWARE OF MANUAL APPLICATION OF BONUS POLICY
Here is a new one from Discover. Don't know if it was posted yet but just a heads up for those who have had a failure using apple pay at a store and had to call in to get the bonus manually applied. I had a failure today at Macy's Moorestown while trying to use apple pay. I got card read error thrice before I gave up and used the card physically at the POS terminal (no pun intended). I came home and called discover to get the bonus manually applied and I was told, "We only do this as a 1 time courtesy and you have already called in once before with the failure, thus we cannot apply it again manually".

Anywhere that accepts Apple Pay, although the current stores are certainly limited.

Edit: I wonder if the double cashback on the IT card will apply, effectively giving you %20 back.

Press release says extra 10% cashback bonus. So it should be 11% total. 22% if you are in the double cashback offer.

wondering the same, 20% would be awesome.
On another note I got a call from discover couple of months back regarding an apple pay survey, they must have completed it and roll out this offer

Discover is killing it lately. I went from hardly ever using my Discover card a year ago to using it on as many purchases as possible. Between my AmEx and Discover cards, I only use my Visa now for gas and stores that don't take the other two cards.

If the bonus do stack, sucks for all the people who participated in the T-Mobile deal. Hope we can get an official answer.

That's $135 off an unlocked (base) iPhone.

if you sign up for Apple's new 24 month installment deal, wonder if this will work

also, wondering if these bonuses DO stack, can we get out of the Tmobile deal if we just signed up yesterday?? it seems to me you still would have 14 days to get out of it..is that right?
