Deal is back!! Good through: 3/1/2016. I don't know if I can sign up again. I will try tomorrow. Big Grin

Note: I'm not sure if the deal change but from the "tiny" fine print it seem like the same deal. LMAO

[Original Thread]

I received this deal via email from Charter.

Receive a free Roku 3 including remote and headphones (Value @ $97.09 on Amazon http://smile.amazon.com/Roku-Stre...rds=Roku+3) if you sign up for a $12.99 Spectrum TV stream.

I spoke with the rep and they said no contract. Cancel anytime you want and still get to keep the Roku.

I think it's a good deal considering I got sling service and that thing isn't as good as I hope it to be. Sling TV has lag and delays and cost $20 a month.

The $12.99 a month package comes with all local TV + a choice of HBO or Showtime.

The $19.99 a month package comes with all local TV channels + a choice of HBO or Showtime + A&E, ABC Family, ESPN, Food Network, Hallmark, HGTV, LMN, Nat GEO, AMC, Discovery, History, FX, History 2, TBS and TLC. I opt'd for this package and picked HBO for HBO GO. Since I'm already paying the same price for this on Sling TV. They said I should be getting the Roku 3 in about 2-3 days via FedEx.

Also, this works on the Go on mobile devices and other TV box stick via Charter TV app. This is not limited to one device as Sling TV is (confirmed this from the rep before I order.)

I think it's a good deal if your area offer Charter Cable. Check it out. You need to call in because the website doesn't have any details. This promotion just came out this morning.

Service: It's a stream service. No need for a TV package. The stream is the package. Local channels is loaded on to the address your service is registered to.

Device: Up to 15 devices can be added (you can remove device online at your account). 5 can stream simultaneously. Only the Roku is locked to your home network.

Internet: You need their internet. This is a stream service from Charter like Sling TV to Dish.

30-days guarantee: If you're not satisfied with the service you can call and cancel within 30 days for money back. Any time after that you'll get prorated. Roku 3 you can keep still. They can't take it back.

HBO: Yes. HBO Go is a GO....give about 24-48 hours to get everything up.

I saw this email too. Couldn't find anything on website.

I wonder if we are only restricted to the roku device. If you have a regular cable tv subscription, your login should work for apps like fox sports go, cnn, etc. I wonder if this will work for those apps.

Worth a try if there is no contract.

If what I read from press releases and forums (dodgy, I know) is correct, there is a $5 monthly fee tacked onto your broadband bill to cover the cost of the Roku (so not free), and there is an extra tax/surcharge of ~$5 known as a local TV tax.

So as normal, shady accounting by cable companies trying to squeeze you with "taxes."

I wonder what it would be like if you instead used your own Roku....

I wish Cox did something like this.

Yea same here. You have to call in. The rep said no restriction on just the Roku because you can download the app. I will hold them to it. If not they will hear it from me! LMAO

So what should be the total cost?? And not sure why there is a 30 day risk free trial when there is no contract. Maybe it just means that they refund every cent.

I just want an IPTV service with locals included (Come on slingTV). I was super excited to see this service (even without roku tbh) but realized they only serve to the Charter service locations and not national. :/ Good find, sadly not for me.

Here's the break down of the "tax"

FCC $0.08
franchise fee: $1.44
Broadcaster TV surge Charge: $6.5

As someone without any cable, can I subscribe to the $20/mo stream package, get the free Roku 3, and access all those channels through the Roku?

Edit - It depends on if I'm in a neighborhood that is supplied Charter cable, I take it?

From what the rep said yes. You just need to download the App. It will work with any Roku. So it's a good deal to me. Yes local Channels it depends on your area availability.

As a Floridian, it appears they don't provide service anywhere in my state. It doesn't appear to even let me apply to the internet streaming package - am I missing something?

I think FL is own by Comcast....if I'm not mistaken. Sorry. I think Charter got ahead of their website admin team because I don't see the deal on my account neither. Even when I click on the link in the email. I had to call in.
