Do you think it is wrong or okay for people to take peelies (coupons) off of items in the store when they don't ever buy that item?

Didn't vote because even though it is wrong to take them off of products w/o purchase, I would not call it theft.

also, many times they say no purchase necessary, so how can that be defacing anything? you have to alter the box for it to be defacing...and removing a peelie doesn't alter anything...at least if you know how to do it right.

I disagree, if I remove a peelie but do not buy the product right then....wait a few weeks until their is a great sale at my local store and then purchase a lot of the product and redeem the coupons...isn't the company of said product still getting what they wanted in the first place?

If they don't want me to take the coupon until after I buy it then they would put it on the inside of the packaging (like so many already do)

Umm, no, Matlock. That doesn't qualify as defacement. The most anyone would be found guilty of - if the store decided to press the issue - is the value of the peelie. Most coupons state they are worth 1/100 of a cent (or so), making this not enough for stores to worry about.
