Just to nitpick, trim doesn't work on MacOS but that's specific to Macs.

I've had this enclosure for a while and it's been pretty solid. I would recommend getting the latest firmware updated and it fixes a few problems.

Leaving cover off is not a good option. Surface area of NVMe is much smaller than the surface area of the aluminum enclosure for heat exchange.

You'll want to clone the drive, mounted externally or internally, but *may* need to use migration or boot repair tools if you're moving Windows from a conventional drive or SSD to an NVMe drive....
