Pre-builts always have half the RAM you'd expect them to have. It also has an order of magnitude less drive space that I'd be willing to live with.

nope, since they are exact matches you may run into some issues though timings/speed may be different due to mismatch pairs but you can mess around in the bios to see what works with both of them...
