HEPA filters are not washable. You may be thinking of the pre-filter or carbon filter. There are washable dust filters, but they only trap larger particles like dust. They can't filter smaller...

I'm pretty sure the red "replace filter" light is just on a timer. I don't think it has any way of knowing how clogged the filter is.

Agreed. Only works with on the carbon filter, but you’ll not get anything by trying that on the white HEPA filters.
