I see. Thanks for the info. Yeah, maybe this is a shortcoming of the way these smartplugs are implemented. Ideally, if the Internet goes down, devices on your local network would be unaffected.

No melting but over time with very high 24/7 usage may break the material down. I'm not sure what happens after that. I do have one hooked up to a 1500W space heater. That runs but then turns off...

Does anyone know if these can handle constant draw at 1200W over a long period of time? It says it can handle 1800W but even my 25ft 12AWG gets warm when constant 900W draw and gets even warmer...

I use these for my wall/window AC/HEATER and they work fine. Its nice to be able to turn the ac on and off from my phone. These plugs are very nice i have like 10 around the house
