Can we use these as side surrounds? Or is it better to use RP 600M or 502S. My place is small and my ears are 3-4 feet away from side wall if I mount either of them.

Audibly the difference would be subtle at best.
The advantage to the 500s is you can use them in a height position for Atmos playback.
The 140s are designed strictly as Atmos modules.

Side by side you may hear a subtle difference between gens.
Beyond that you would be hard pressed to hear any significant difference imo.
