I got mine for $275 last year. Upgraded from 3900x. Did not notice much difference in day-to-day productivity tasks. Runs a bit hotter than 3900x using CM ML240L AIO.

If you're buying brand new, I think the 5600x would do just fine. That said, I bought my 5900x for $180+ but it's used (but came in the original box and works fine).
