PCI Gen 4 NVMe drives do 7000MB/s or 7GB/s. 0.7 GB/s is roughly sata speeds. So once again, even a gen 3 drive will max out a 20Gb/s interface, let alone a 10Gb/s one.

My math was different than yours. 10 Gbps = 1.25 GBps 7000 MBps = 0.7 GBps There is no current PCI Gen 4 NVMe that reaches the limits of 10 Gpbs interface. Even if you consider peak simultaneous...

It will matter since there is a difference of x8 between B and b notation. As such a 20Gb/s interface will only do ~2500MB/s, which will not even max out a pcie3 nvme drive that can do ~3500MB/s let...

It's to appeal to looks and the "made of high quality," marketing. Like I said earlier you are better off just leaving the top open to cool it off than keeping it closed. Under heavy load with the...

Would you expect a plastic enclosure to perform better? Always wondered why manufacturers opt for metal in portable electronics when plastic is both lighter and potentially heats up less.

Not surprising as I have two 3.5” SATA external enclosures by Sabrent and the drives overheat in them

Seconded, I have this enclosure as well and it overheats and disconnects when under heavy load. Very frustrating.

Be aware that this is the ONE AND ONLY optional USB spec for USB4. Meaning, just because you have USB4, TB3 or TB4... doesn't mean you necessarily have USB 3.2 Gen 2x2. Older Intel MacBook...

It's a gotcha indeed, got yourself in a rut. At this point you are making the argument that no one should ever need anything on an external drive for anything. You are after all, the one who made it...

Is 20 Gbps worth it when transfer rates of a Gen 4 NVMe (7,000 MBps) won't exceed 10 Gbps anyways?
