Seems like the first WD Black sale I've seen in ages. Hopefully the 2TB model will go on sale soon.

So, I'm torn between jumping on this drive and getting one of the $99 2TB Green drives. I have a SSD for my favorite games as well as as a boot drive/app drive. This HDD would store videos and heavy...

crappy? I dont' think so. It's a Seagate goflex. I would have bought it, except I just bought the 3TB external version with usb 3.0 for $129. and for those who think it's a price mistake, I...

Yes indeed if they are at using 1 single platter nowadays for a 1TB hdd. It would also mean that the same 1TB drives now are quite faster then the mulit platter 1TB drives from years past.

You are dead wrong. The drive mechanism itself can be queried on WD's website and carries its own 5 year warranty (according to mfg date or according to PoP if it extends warranty period further). As...

Agree w/u 100%. By now, the HD manufacturer(s) (I remember reading an article that pretty much "narrowed down" "the list" to ONE) that were monetarily affected by the flooding should have easily...

If you remove a hard drive from an enclosure you lose any warranty the enclosure had. And the hard drives inside are NOT covered by their own warranty. The samsung drives have also went to shit since...

Exactly! I paid $69.99/ea plus tax for two 2TB WD Elements USB 2.0 HDDs @ Target B&M on BF2010. There was a 2TB WD Caviar Black inside of each external enclosure that, by themselves (as internal...

Yeah Warranty seems to be a good reason to jump on this. Sad that even the might Samsung F4 2TB drive is down to a 1 year warranty. What bullshit.

Just because you bought it on sale for that price one time, doesn't mean that's that normal price it should always be. I bought some for $50-$60 range too though so I know the price does need to come...

Before Seagate bought Samsung's HDD business, the F3 had a 3 year warranty. They're down to a 1 year now with Seagate behind the wheel. That's not too appealing from a consumer standpoint. $20 for 4...

Agreed the Samsung has very close performance at at bettery price but worse warranty. Samsung is now owned by Seagate so hopefully those drive haven't gone downhill. It does take quite a while to...

this one has 5 year warranty. as a HDD that goes into my computer and runs 24/7. i expect high reliability (since i have no room for RAID). i actually bought this because it is always a pain in...

^This especially since it seems that Seagate bought Samsung's hard drive business and WD seems to have bought Hitatchi's seeing as how they have WD Deskstars now.

They're clearing out old stock and selling it at higher prices that a "normal" hard drive market would never even considering buying. I bought a Samsung 1TB for 50 bucks last November, but its still...

Flood in Thailand. Apparently every hard drive manufacturer is there. Ah thanks for the clarification. Just another price fixing scheme, not saying it didnt effect it at all but probably blown out...

The prices are not going to come down to pre flood prices because the demand for HD's is still very high despite the outrageous prices..... :(

Yeah it's bullshit because I remember reading an article where a WD representative said that he expected WD to be at full 100 capacity by Sept. These drives should be dropping a lot faster then what...
