A longer rod doesn't make fishing harder; having the right gear makes the task easier. I would really copy what the other guys are doing. If they are using 12fters rated 2-8oz, , I would buy a 12ft...

I can't stress enough how important it is to have quality terminal tackle. Like barrel swivels , tactical clips, braided line, fleuro carbon leader, quality hooks etc. if not you'll find yourself...

I'd probably go with Longitude, 8 ft or 9ft. -S- model if you are using a spinning rod, -C- if you are using conventional (baitcast)...

Thank you for the advice. I'm fishing solely (at the moment) from docks/banks, so the rod I linked is out. I'm going to likely pick up one of the others that you linked previously. I'd rep you...

If you are doing surf; the 65 and 90 are the same size "reel", the 90 just holds more line. I think the 40/50 are the same size reel, and the 20/30 are a smaller one. So in reality there are 3 sizes...

What do you think about this combo for surf fishing at the beach? ABF-40 paired with the LC-S-802M-1 8' 0" 2 Medium 15-30 1/2-3. It seems the abf 40 might be a little small for this rod....

What kind of rod you need is based on what you plan to catch. Where do you plan to fish from? Shore, Dock, Beach, Kayak? The rod you linked originally is made of some kind of glass/porcelin. I...

Thanks for the clarification on the rod I posted. I'm looking for a rod that will get me a little longer casts, hoping that it will still have some feel to it. Got a recommendation from Okuma for...

I generally pick up an Ugly Stik from academy. The one time I managed to break one they let me swap the rod out for a new one in store. (YMMV). The rods themselves are generally $30-40. They are very...

I have 2 of the abf40s. Great reels, I use them for carp fishing and they have handled fish up to 35lbs with no problems.

The 40 would be excellent for fresh water. I picked up two abf 90s last year for 30$ each and two 12 foot tundras. The abf90s are heavy though. I use them only for pier/surf fishing or boat fishing.
