You can use it as a regular hard drive. It's made for a NAS but will work fine otherwise I use a WD red in my workstation for projects

Can I use it as just regular extra HD or is it waste of money since I wouldn't use Nas feature? I mean I don't know how to set up NAS and probably will not set it up on my comp.
