ok i just tested plugging a 2.5mm to 3.5mm 3 pole chat cable directly into the controller from the headset and it works brilliantly. on the console i maxed out the headset volume and lowered the mic...

you will need a chat adapter only if you have the older version xbox one remote. the newer version has an aux input and adapter is not needed. i have the gen 2 of these and people dont have a problem...

The mic is terrible (not sure which version). I highly recommend the Logitech 933's over these.

Appears to be the 1st gen based off the color scheme. Still a great headset. The PS4 editions I have are black and blue and the Xbox one editions are black and green.
