LOL, now the criticism is that it isn't fast enough for "meaningful production". The funny thing is that I actually agree that a small $1500 CNC router would be a better option for those who have...

My point is, the 1/2 inch course correction is really not enough to get going at speed. This will be really slow for any meaningful production.. The fact that this only works on flat pieces of...

The "slight travel" is not bogus, that is what makes it an accurate CNC router. The operator can lazily move the device in approximately the right direction while the camera, computer, and actuators...

It's just got a camera and reads the coded strips. that slight travel that it can do is bogus. you have no real useful depth cutting.. So it's not significantly better than a router table. ...

Your projector solution completely misses the point of this device being CNC controlled.

for $500 price difference, and extreme lack of capability It's worth it to bring your workpiece to the CNC.. :D And I've already posted in my previous about the projector solution, which would...

And yet still, you can't bring your $2000 CNC to the workpiece but must bring the workpiece to your $2000 CNC.

You can diy a large cnc table 4 by 8 within ~$2000.. With a Full 3 killowatt VFD spindle.. That's not much more than what this camera router costs, and will do so much more. 1500 might get as...

What do you do if the piece you are working on doesn't fit on your CNCs table?
Post #98338116 added 03-30-2017 11:32 AM by xtp in Hot Deals
The cnc does everything for you. And this kit is doubly silly, because it really only works on already Flat surfaces. A CNC table can true up any surface for you, ONTOP of working directly on...

You can't bring a full CNC to the workpiece.
Post #98336740 added 03-30-2017 11:06 AM by xtp in Hot Deals
This is ridiculous.. a Full CNC would cost this much if you diy, which most carpenter enthusiasts wouldn't mind doing, and it'd be Way More Repeatable.

But you're limited by the size of your CNC - If you haven't read more about the Shaper's features you really should. Here's a $100 off promo code if you change your mind....

Interesting concept, but $1500 is crazy for a hand tool. A high end Saw Stop or Bosch Reaxx costs that much. A low end CNC setup with small steppers can be had for around the same.
