Iagree I've never lived anywhere else though, so I don't have that kind of a frame of reference.

I also host anyone from another country that I can (foreign students, dance festivals, ect) so that we get to know a bunch of other countries, their thoughts, customs, ect. So my kids have had quite a diverse eye opening that way, which helps. I also know how to cook just about anything you can name Smilie

We have hosted from France, Slovakia, Sicily, India, China, got my Venzuelan neighbor to teach me her recipes, had another friend teach me Thai....

The french teen we hosted this past summer for a month is coming back for this next summer. His impression of what he was heading towards...was we were similar to the Amish including clothes, ect! We are not the predominant religion that is here but some of his friends went to those homes and had interesting stories to tell him versus life at our house. We sure enjoyed it though, and have an invite to go to France now I cant wait to go do. It really reminds you what you think life is...is just a small picture and there is a lot more out there...and cool stuff!
