Several owners are reporting that the PC4-2400 RAM that comes with the system by default is an ECC memory module. See this post for details.

The memory speed is limited by BIOS to 2133.

Also, this CPU is straight 4 cores, no HT, if that matters to anyone.

Yes you can install Windows 7. Before doing that, check dell's Support page if Windows 7 Drivers are available.

I already checked the Dell site and they only list support for various Windows Server editions and Red Hat. The driver files look like generic files for multiple versions of Windows, but I was hoping someone had already done it.

I need to replace an aging business server that requires some specific applications to be running all the time. They run fine under Windows 7/8/10, it's just that I have a previously un-activated copy of Windows 7 I'd like to use.

I'm a little confused as the T20s clearly almost always shipped with ECC memory. The T30s... are they shipping with ECC? This ships with UDIMM. Is UDIMM same as ECC? I don't think you can mix and definitely would want ECC memory. Link to Dell Specs. [dell.com]


UDIMM, is an unbuffered, low-density, low-latency DIMM that doesn't include a register or a buffer chip.
