Concerning the new TCL HDR series televisions coming out this year.
Preorder price is $599 through amazon. Honestly this price might hold as the price throughout the year or even cheaper on Black Friday knowing how prices drop. But just a heads up, seems like a pretty good TV with HDR if looking for one this June.
The preorder link will not be up on amazon until 5/26, but you can find info on the TV and it's previews on Roku's site and others.
TCL's P-series will be offered in 50" (50P607), 55" (55P607), and 65" (65P607) screen sizes with the 55" model available for a special introductory price of $599 via pre-order on Amazon.com starting May 26th.
Adding link to the Amazon product page. Shows $799 so we'll wait and see what happens on 5/26

I know I'm jumping for one as soon as the pre-order goes live.

TCL's P-Series sets focus on picture performance. In addition to featuring Dolby Vision HDR, the 4K set includes HDR contrast control zones, which allow it to optimize contrast across 72 zones. That creates localized contrast between light and dark areas, which TCL says adds depth and reality to the picture.
The P-Series sets also include wide color gamut support along with the electronics maker's NBP Photon technology; according to TCL, that accounts for the vibrant color palette that its P-Series models provide.

I wouldn't count on the price holding or going down. Given the fantastic specs, at $599 this is a tremendous bargain. Find me another 55" tv with Dolby Vision *and* HDR10, FALD with 72 dimming zones and built-in Roku for this price. There are only a few sets that support both DV and HDR, such as some LGs like the 55UH7700. Those are $800. I want a set that supports both since no one knows who will win the format war.
Real HDR. Unfortunately, there haven't been any in depth reviews yet so we only have impressions from those who saw them at CES and specs released by TCL. There's a lot of excitement about them so I'm sure there will be some solid reviews before they actually ship.

not covering a wide range of the color gamut
I was more interested in the TCL 65P, but apparently that won't be available until Oct/Nov, so I'll
probably end up buying the 2017 Vizio M65-E0 (available now) if it reviews well.
Having owned 6 Rokus over the years, the IR remotes are 99.9% reliable, but the RFs fail several times a week. I never had any IR issues, it just seemed like a problem that didn't need fixing (assuming you have line of sight)
That is very interesting as my experience has been the exact opposite. Loved the RF remotes where in I would tuck away the roku behind my tv. Never had any connectivity issues with RF. My last stand alone was the Roku 4. Switched to the TLC tv which uses the IR remote and it immediately felt like I went backwards in time.
