break: To break something, or cause damage, or relaxing by taking a break.
brake: Used to stop your car. <- This is probably the one we are talking about.

in my experience the ones that actually work damage many wheels finishes. best to stick with a quality wheel brush and wheel polish for aluminum etc.
I've never used a wheel cleaner that worked this way, all require agitation on wheels heavily covered in brake dust.
nothing beats a washmit/brush and the power of your hands

do any of these wheel cleaners work the way they say they do? I have no problem stooping to manually wash my wheels, but these products that advertise spray on, hose off, walk away, do any actually work?

these cheap ones don't really work like the brand named one, i would stick with spending more on them then getting this cheap quality stuff.

I strongly recommend S100 total cycle cleaner. It is used to clean motorcycles, so you know for sure it is safe on your wheels. they also make a wheel cleaner, but I found the cycle cleaner works great. I have used it for years and never had an issue with it damaging the finish. I purchase it at the local Harley dealer. s100. com for more info.

in many cases where wheel cleaners don't work, it's because of brake dust. A dedicated iron removal agent is the key to making your wheels look good. look into Iron-X or similar brake dust removal cleaner.

Is it the "iron removing agent" that changes color to brown/red after you spray it on? I have a Meguires tire cleaner and wheel cleaner, and I use it once in a while. I hope it's not eating in to the rubber.
