Domain Reselling for Profit

It looks like more and more people/businesses are looking beyond the ".com" realm. I was looking at registering some "trademarked" domain names for newer dot-whatevers, then contacting that company and essentially selling it to them and making a profit.
So I'm just looking for advice re: legal/not legal, easy/hard, good idea/bad idea, etc.

He also makes sure they don't infringe on trademarks first... Registering Yahoop.com (it's taken) or googlew.com (it's taken) especially if you had an ad page to earn revenue would get you in very hot water.

Now, registering aardvarksforhire.com and trying to sell it? Fine and dandy.

Yeah if you take a domain that's similar to a product the courts can force you to give it up free. Like the man who got Xbox one website. Had to give it up

I know when .com .net and to a lesser extent .org were the Only non ccTLD's available and businesses ( small and large) didn't "get" it but crafty domainers , business people that is, made large investments into "nothing" but the rights to that domain for a 2 year lease , I think it was $45 year , 2 years minimum back then, and NetSol was the only game in town.. being the first gave them "control" of when good registered names that weren't renewed would be released back to the public, first come first serve.. lol.. there wasn't a time of day regularly used and people use to try to register them once the registry said it was available... You could get a confirmation then hours later .. Sorry.. you were beat by someone else.. Technology wasn't as fast as today, by the time you paid , someone else paid faster.. Lots of Money was made.. and lost.. You see a $250,000 sale.. not good if they paid $400,000 a decade ago intending to sell it.. well the Registry and Registrar's are making money.. and some inside dealings, been going on for decades, don't forget.. not like the SEC has been regulating the world wide web .. save your money... It adds up quickly GL
