I've installed these and it's difficult to line most of the screws with studs, so you will be drilling huge holes in your wall for the toggle bolts.

Not really a big deal for many but definitely not for renters as you will leave huge holes in the wall if you ever want to uninstall it.

I don't think that's the issue... Sometimes studs are offset from where you want them, which I believe was the point.

Stud finders are also overpriced and sometimes not reliable. A strong magnet (you can extract them from an old hard drive for free) covered in tape to keep the wall from scuffing, is an easier way to find studs.

I have a stud finder. I didn't say I had trouble finding the studs. I said that it doesn't line up well with studs. It's not adjustable so you have to screw into the wall wherever it says you need to. Best I could do was find a configuration that let me screw into two (different) studs. The rest of the holes were huge toggle bolts (about an inch or more wide) drilled into the drywall.

I think they meant with 26" shelves you will not be sixteen on center where the screws need to go. (Also Simple tip, a magnet can find the screws in your drywall revealing the stud) best to be centered for lag bolts etc. but can be a quick fix for hanging a picture or something.

Yeah I had a similar experience doing a TV wall mount. The studs weren't where I needed them so I had to drill a piece of wood between 2 studs to get the mount centered which for a product like this would be unsightly.
