A semi-acoustic guitar (also known as a hollow-body electric) is an electric guitar in which some part of the body is hollow. It is semi acoustic because the hollow section is not large enough to give the instrument satisfactory volume or tone without amplification.
Adorama has it labeled wrong, it's not a semi-acoustic guitar, it's an acoustic-electric guitar, which is basically an acoustic guitar with a pickup or microphone built-in so that it can be plugged into an amplification system.

So does that mean that it still sounds good without being plugged in? And how can you know for sure that it won't show up as a semi acoustic? Can you tell just by the pictures? Thanks
I'm looking for a good quality guitar but I don't want to fork up the cash that it takes to get a really nice one. Does anyone have this guitar and would you recommend it to someone who will be playing on stage every once in a while?

It is a full acoustic with electronics. I have the Pm-1 and PM-2 which have the same fishman electronic system w/tuner and it is very good.

It's an acoustic guitar with a pickup, so technically an acoustic-electric. The other poster is right, this is mislabeled. I got the PM-2 Deluxe, which is the parlour version of this, and it sounds great unplugged. This one (the PM-3) is a great deal as well. All solid wood, ebony fretboard, the electronics are nice and the tuners are, I think, 18:1.
Fender has long been the king of "nice intro guitars", I'd say they did pretty well with this intermediate level guitar. I don't know that I'd pay $1000 dollars for this (the normal price), but it's a great deal at $525. I don't think anyone is making a solid wood guitar for that price. My Taylor GS Mini, which retails for $599, has layered wood sides. The Taylor is a very nice guitar too, but I really think this one is better.

Like others have said, it sounds great not plugged in, just like a regular acoustic. Just think if it as an acoustic with the bonus of being able to plug it in if you ever want.
Under the selections would you select mahogany or rosewood? And does it matter wether you select acoustic or semi-acoustic?
Mahogany and rosewood have completely different sound and are preference/style. There are several demo videos online of both. You may want to consider going to a guitar store and playing a few. Pretty certain that the Mahogany PM-3 does not have the electronic system and is acoustic only. As stated above the semi acoustic is labeled wrong so ignore.

I'll go to the local guitar shop tomorrow to try it out. On another note, I saw on the previous pm-2 thread that people had bad experiences with Adorama and they apparently had issues with receiving the guitars used instead of new.

I think you're referring to https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=
best question is, were they opened or not. because if they were sealed, then chances are fender sent them used guitars...
