Hey, the pro-Prop8 people are bitter about their insecure sexuality and that's why they proposed Prop8 in the first place.

I'm not being bitter. You are being smug!

I have to deal with Obama being elected. Do you see me saying I want to run over his supporters? No. It does no good. Channel your energy into something useful.

I do find it frustrating that those for gay marriage often don't care to understand why someone might be opposed, like jaded just gave a great example of. I know it's true of many things but this one seems more so than usual.

Okay, bargoon...

When have we ever taken away a constitutional right to a group of people? How American does that sound?

The constitution states we are all equal.

I oppose government changing the defition of something that does not belong to them. The church created the concept of marriage and the church controlled all marriage records until the government decided to take it over for taxation purposes. I support gay people having every right that our government has given to married people, but I don't support changing the definition.

This is the separation of church and state that our forefathers created. They came from a situation where the government had taken over the church and taken away religious freedom. I don't believe it ever crossed their mind that church would not be involved in government, but they were very wary of government becoming involved in the church.

Non religious people (and some religious ones) have twisted that around and made it just the opposite. If you're going to keep the church out of government, at least make it a two way street.

I agree with Brgn, mostly. Marriage, in my opinion, should be 1) a federal institution for the purpose of property ownership, taxation, visitation rights, etc and 2) a religious instution IF DESIRED. A married couple would be married civilly, but religiously only if they wanted to be.

But Bargoon, marriage isn't just from church. Chinese buddhist are married w/o christianity and so are all the other married couples who aren't religious. You can't be ego-centric and say that marriage is only from the Christian church.

So much races are out there w/o church. Marriage is a basic commitment idea in human nature.
