I think the Acer Predator is a slightly better for the price?

Probably about equal, as far as performance goes. Acer comes with an SSD, but I imagine the MSI build quality is better. You shouldn't have a problem running games at 1080p on high/ultra settings with an i7 and GTX 1060 6gb.

Bought this exact laptop 2 months ago after returning a Razer Blade that bricked itself after a keyboard firmware update. It's great for my portable gaming needs (Overwatch, PUBG, Lawbreakers, Quake Champions, etc). The build quality isn't nearly as svelte as the Razer, but it's definitely not flimsy. I like that it isn't too flashy either, as I take it to a lot of training classes as well.

Junk the spinning disk, or add an NVME SSD. My config came with a 512GB m.2 SSD, and for my needs it's fine. Supplemented it with a Crucial M4 SSD for additional storage/dual boot.

two thumbs down. cpu is 6th gen, no ssd drive and over 1000 with tax and you have to use rebate I might as well buy from cyberpower pc with no tax.

Lol -- CPU Gen is nearly meaningless. No Cyberpower is anything near this size/weight with this much GPU power.

This exact machine was minimum $1500 when I was shopping for a 1060 notebook a few months ago.

Find a gaming laptop without issues and get back to us. I'm not saying this one doesn't have a share of issues, but they pretty much all have some kind of compromise or drawback. I went through a few different brands/models before I realized this.

the acer predator wouild be the better option just due to kaby lake and the 100$ you would save on the hard drive, I have to look at specs but im sure there is a spot for an extra hard drive on the acer so spend the 100 on a 2tb firecuda for it

also to keep in mind based off of retail seasons there will be quite a few laptop sales starting and going through beginning of august due to back to school sales as well as some ryzen laptops should be getting launched in august (although it could be delayed some more... thank the miners for eating up the gpu supply)

also with msi laptops - lately msi has been putting in alot of extra (bloatware) that runs all at startup... you will probably need to disable all of that stuff in order to get the proper performance
