This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

i've had 5 annual yard sales and this is what works for me. ... it's good to talk to people to find out what they are looking for for future sales. hth and good luck!
WOW! Great tips! Thank you!!! I am trying to collect as much info for next spring as poss!

Quote from sbhiggins :
So, I spent all morning yesterday back at the hospital (planned this time). My "pee" test was borderline; the rest were negative.

So they are NOT putting me on bedrest, I CAN go ahead and go on the trip DH and I set up for next week (to Scotland and Ireland)
I am sorry that you are going through all of this!!! My prayers and thoughts are with you! I had to be on bedrest with my pregnancy before my last one - it SUCKED!!!!! With any luck you will have such a lovely trip that it will help alleviate some of the stress - HUGS HUGS HUGS!

PS - Don't forget to feed Nessie Smilie

Quote from Sharon52680 :
Umm, yea..So my husband wanted to test that this past summer.. "people will buy anything, even garbage..." So he took a bunch of the pails that our cat litter come in a put $.25 stickers on them.. Needless to say they were all gone within an hour! We had two garage sales last year over three days and made $2,200
WHOO HOOOOO! I am in AWE! I hope to do that well anon - ROFL about the litter containers!

Quote from thuctrang :
Recycle those McCain yard signs and use them as your yard/garage sale signs. (they should be free for the taking from the neighbor's yard)
I wonder if people would be willing to donate their Obama signs??? Hmmm -

Quote from Sharon52680 :
Aww, I feel kind of bad for John McCain. I do think he wanted the best for the country ... He had tears in his eyes when he gave his concession speech and he didn't let people talk sh*t about Obama for the most part.
I also believe that he believed that he would do what was best for this country - just as I believe that Obama thinks that too ---- I don't think one would run for President if one did not want what was "best" in his/her opinion for this country.

I think that McCain is a classy person - old school in the truest sense of the word - he was very complimentary about Obama at the roast in New York a month or so ago as well! I am not sure that McCain would have done a phenomenal job of heading up our nation - but I think he is a genuinely respectful & good hearted man.

Quote from crownline266 :
Is anybody here not happy Obama won? I think Obama is a great man and educated and makes great speeches, though. I guess time will tell...
I am not thrilled - he is very highly educated and delivers practiced speeches with flair. Obama's got nothing on Tony Blair though! LOL I think that Obama will do what he believes in his heart is the best for the US ------ as you said ------ time will tell.

Quote from flugette :
Me! wave Lots of his over-the-top promises and comments disturb me
Hey - it worked for Bill years ago and people remember him fondly even with all of his pandering. I believe that pandering to the masses is almost a requirement these days .... I think it is a commentary on the general public ...

Quote from strawberryman80 :
The best change will be now I don`t have to listen to some of my unemployed black/brown male friends say "I don`t have a job because you don`t know what it is to be a black man living in America."... The best thing that happened to this country in 150 years.nod
I have to say that there is a part of me who agrees - I like that there is a shining example of all that a Black person can accomplish!! I hate it when people refuse to try to change their lives and use a cop out like that. I can look at first generation immigrants in this country (my parents included) who do not complain about not receiving the 'hand out they deserve' as they work hard and acheive success. HOWEVER in the waiting for the dole as a god given right color is not limited to black or brown people .... come up north to some of the smaller towns where there is that same "I am OWED EVERYTHING" attitude by white folks who feel they should not have to do anything and do NOTHING to improve their lots in life.

Quote from ~ Shoppingfan ~ :
At age 7, he learns about history (but in our schools they don't even mention MLK except to say tomorrow you have a school holiday, so he has no knowledge of anyone that looks like him outside of home teaching) & when it comes time to say what do you want to be when you are older he now has a wonderful inspiration. There is nothing wrong with that.
This morning he told us, someday I would like to work hard to be president like Barack Obama.
Maybe it is because of where I live - but here there is a Black History month and when there is a special focus on African Americans - there is also a huge emphasis on different cultures, ethnicities, and religions throughout the year in history, social studies, english etc. My kiddos have cinqo de mayo celebrations, learn about kwanza, hannakah, ramadan, and learn about buddism, islam, etc. In fact, here it is non-pc to be a straight white of anglo-saxon descent. Again it may be the region --- I just want ALL kiddos to feel as if they are equally important, special, and deserving of all the good in the world!!!!

Quote from slowtech :
totally agree. my SIL had a dryer fire in her basement and had a huge bunch of toys that were new but the package was totally damaged. she put the pieces in ziploc bags. so difficult to sell.
That is scary! Why did the dryer start on fire? Sucks about the toys though!

Quote from anepu :
Just found out that my apartment complex is having a community garage sale on the 15th!!!!!! This is great news because the city will only allow 2 per year with a permit and we already had our 2 at my parents house.... Yahoo! Time to start pricing some of this stuff!!!
WHOO HOOO!!! Wishing you LOADS of luck - hope you make a fortune!!!! BTW why can you only have 2 a year? That seems so strange - I *think* here you could have one every weekend if you wanted??? I don't have the stuff ---- and doing it in the winter when it is 10 below zero with 3 feet of snow would be awful LOL however I do think that we would be allowed to should we want to. Is it common to have restraints on garage sales like yours?

OK, so the printable $2/1 Neutrogena Therapeutic Haircare product - anyone know where the best place is to use this? I would like to try the shampoo, but not sure who carries it. I checked at T, and couldn't find it. Has anyone even used this coupon yet? Smilie
You could use this coupon at cvs for the monthly deal. The cheapest product is 4.69 at my store, so .69 after coupon and ecb.

I might get banned if I do. Since when can you "walk" into a thread and have everything handed to you on a silver platter? Come on now, at least freaking read a page or 2.

As far as having alot of time on my hands.

1) I work full time
2) I have a 13 yo daughter (ugh hormones) in junior high with a huge school load & sports
3) My husband has been working in Mississippi for the past 4 weeks and still has 2 1/2 more to go, so I have been a single parent for over a month now.

Now, you tell me how freaking difficult is it to keep yourself informed. Apparently, I am doing it wrong.

hug I agree! These lazy people love to post, "can someone find me the deals and then spoonfeed me. Wait, just bring the deals right into my lap..." Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

We all have a life outside of SD. It takes time and effort to learn and contribute to getting great deals.

I think if I were a mod here I'd institute a rule that anyone who posts the phrase, "I just don't have time to read all the posts. . ." or something like that would be instantly banned.

Do peeps really not get how rude and offensive that is? shake head

Not the lazy self-entitled a$$holes of the world. Some people are so used to having others do for them they come to expect it.

me too... I got my current lexmark when it was on sale at T a few months ago after my 7 year old lexmark passed away (moment of silence please for him... he was so wonderful to me). Ready to throw it out window now as the ink I'm supposed to use for it has a chip on it that tells the pc when it is "empty" - still plenty of ink left in it and it refuses to let me print until I put in a new one...
Have you tried taking the ink cartridge out and re-inserting it again. Trick the printer into thinking it's a new cartridge???

Hey ladies - I work full-time, have 3 kids, commute 1 hour each way to work (EEK! ), have kid sports going on, I am a single parent for this week (only - thankfully) - so I am waaaaay too busy to read the deals thread, that is for the little people. I need someone to send me a list of everything I should buy at Target tomorrow, best deals only please, please list each coupon I should use, where is came from - be specific, etc. A nice Excel spreadsheet would be handy.

THANK YOU Stick Out Tongue
