The ganglions in your eyes are actually highly sensitive to blue light. That is why your pupils tend to close more with cooler temperature lights. This results in increased Depth of Field and higher acuity. Hence, why surgery rooms, work stations (ie assembly lines for soldering), and most other areas requiring high visual acuity have cooler temp lighting.
Sunlight is 5500-6500k, that's why "cooler" lights are called daylight balanced. Yes warmer lights have a psychologically soothing effect for most people, which is why you typically want warmer lights in bedrooms and living rooms, but these lights are meant for the shop so 5000k is a good option.
Costco:
* Linkable
* Can be flush mounted.
* Cheaper
* I flush mount mine and leapfrog the chains so that they are "butted" up to each other, like the Sam's can do.
* Durable as hell. I once had 4 of them strung together in a high cube shipping container, hung from magnets. I accidentally knocked them down and the whole string came crashing down 8 ft onto solid wood floors. All of them still work fine.
* Light is diffused. This creates less harsh lighting than bare LED strips like the Honeywell.
Sam's:
* Linkable
* Can be butted together but connections are janky when you do this.
* Not as reliable. Multiple reports of internal wiring going bad.
* Hanging hardware is nicer with chains, plus linking cord options.
* Can't be flush mounted.
* I personally prefer the 5000k color temp
I personally prefer the Costco but the annoying thing I hate about costco is you can't find much of what they carry online, and it's not easy to find which stores have them. The 3 near me don't have them anymore, just the waterproof one that has an oversensitive motion detector.

I guess that kills the deal for me. I thought they would be 4000.
