<p>You may have noticed that a bunch of frontpage deals have a <img src="http://static.slickdeals.net/images/slickdeals/pop_icon.gif" alt="pop_icon.gif" /> tag next to the headlines. The purpose of the tag is to highlight the deals that have a lot of user activity.</p>
<p>We have analyzed all the deals that have been posted throughout the year and found that deals with significant chatter tend to be hotter than normal. From the data mining, we came up with a "secret" formula to determine the popularity of a deal. Every action you take on the deal: thumbs up/down, comment, view, time since posting, etc will affect whether the deal is tagged as popular. We believe that these deals are the cream of the crop but we'll let you decide.</p>
