Samsung Note 8 - Trade In Deal for Note 7 Users - $450 off
Moderator note: A lot of users are reporting this as dead. But other users have said that (after being on hold for forever) they talked to a rep that says the site is having issues and will be fixed by tomorrow/Monday 9/25. Given that the promotion is *supposed* to last until 9/30 and given the mixed 'dead/not dead trade-in link is just broken' posts, we'll leave this in HD until Monday in case it really is just a site glitch. If it's not working by Monday evening, please report it expired and then it can be moved to Deal Talk at that time.
Given the reports of dead though, I'd highly suggest either waiting to see if the site is working properly on Monday or call in to talk to a Samsung rep (but expect looong wait times if you do).

How to Activate a Special Offer for Former Note 7 Owners

IF you have a real RECEIPT, you do not need to beg for an email!!!! Just upload your receipt... with whatever email account that is not blacklisted and you will be approved for upgrade... just use one email per phone.
You will then get an email that says, "Thanks, we've received your registration for the Special Opportunity for Former Note7 Owners! Upon review of your information, we'll send you an email containing additional details in regards to your submission status."
Most people have gotten confirmation within 48 hours.
If approved (may take a few days), you will be sent another email that says, "Congratulations! Your proof of purchase has been validated. You will receive an additional email within approximately 1-2 weeks with a link to purchase your new Galaxy Note8."
Sit back and wait for the special link, which is associated with the email you used to upload the receipt. This link--without the email--can't be "transferred" to another person; the person will need the link AND the email address. When you're ready to pull the trigger, click the special link. You may be prompted to re-enter the email you used.

You need a student email to sign up (edu email address). If you don't have one, you can purchase one online (Ebay) for around $2.50. Make sure the seller offers Unidays compatible/eligible edu emails. Once you register with Unidays, simply visit the site and click through to Samsung. The Note 8 currently has a $25 discount from Unidays. Some users report that Unidays does not work. You may need to close your browser and clear your cache, history, etc. and start the process over. For some, incognito mode in Chrome works.
Some cash back sites also have deals at Samsung. One example is a popular site that starts an E and ends in bates. Users have reported that this site is the last one you should click through to get the cash back to stick. It does stack with Unidays. The cash back for this site was as "up to" 12%. It is now "up to" 8% The terms say 8% for certified pre-owned phones, 6% for PCs, tables and most items, and 2% for the S8/S8+. There is no need to add any paperwork to the box because your FedEx label lists your trade in program number (usually an 11 digit number, the one listed in the trade in email from Samsung with the Fedex label). That's how they will know it's from you. That said, it probably doesn't hurt to include a copy of the trade in email from Samsung in the box or write the trade in program number on the side of the box, hopefully leaving no room for error.
It is also recommended that you take photoes of the phone from different angles as well as the about page. A video showing it works might would also be good to have in the event they screw you on the trade-in (give $25 instead of $425). Proof of condition and functionality would be helpful in a dispute.
Q: Do I just put the shipping label on the box? Should I include the invoice, shipping label, or anything else with the trade-in device in the box?
A: You just need to slap the shipping label on the outside of the box and put the trade-in device inside the box, nothing else. Use bubble wrap to protect the device, if you so choose. You can include your invoice or shipping label inside the box as well, if you want. It won't hurt, but it won't help either.
Q: My phone has been shipped/delivered but I haven't received the shipping label for the trade-in device in my email yet. Is this normal/Where can I get it?
A: This is normal. Be patient and wait a few business days (weekends don't count as business days) for Samsung to send you the email. If you can't wait that long, then you can find the shipping label on your orders page on Samsung's website next to your trade-in device. A: Several weeks. The directions say to take the package to a Fedex shipping center,
and not to put the package in a Fedex drop box. Probably a wise move so you can get a receipt for the drop off.

Q: What bands are missing in Unlocked version compared to T-Mobile version?
A: TD-LTE bands are unavailable on the Unlocked version. In general, TD-LTE deployments concentrate in Asia. China Mobile is a good example, and the Unlocked phone cannot be used or roamed onto that carrier's LTE network.
Q: Note 8 does not support the 600MHz T-Mobile network, but when will the network come to my area anyway?

Q: How do I get Unidays + E Cashback to work and stack?
A: My sequence for getting Unidays and the E site that offers cashback to work: Visited Unidays and clicked through to Samsung. Went to the email from Samsung and clicked the special pre-order link ("open in new tab"). Selected phone and options. Added to cart and was prompted to log into my Samsung account. After the cart loaded, clicked the E cashback site extension in my Chrome browser and the page reloaded and the extension flashed green showing that I had an active "shopping trip." Completed transaction. Some of these steps here might be unnecessary (like open in new tab), but I'm just presenting what worked for me. [Note: This is the same sequence I followed a few days ago for a prior purchase. However, when I activated the E cashback shopping trip from the browser extension, I did have to log back into my Samsung account. The cart remained the same].

If your trade-in device gets rejected, the proper course of action would be to contact Samsung and provide proof that the device was in working condition prior to you shipping it out in order to try and get the rejection overturned.
Q: (AT&T users) How can I get Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE working on my unlocked phone?

A: You just need to slap the shipping label on the outside of the box and put the trade-in device inside the box, nothing else. Use bubble wrap to protect the device, if you so choose. You can include your invoice or shipping label inside the box as well, if you want. It won't hurt, but it won't help either.
Q: My phone has been shipped/delivered but I haven't received the shipping label for the trade-in device in my email yet. Is this normal/Where can I get it?
A: This is normal. Be patient and wait a few business days (weekends don't count as business days) for Samsung to send you the email. If you can't wait that long, then you can find the shipping label on your orders page on Samsung's website next to your trade-in device. A: Several weeks. The directions say to take the package to a Fedex shipping center,
and not to put the package in a Fedex drop box. Probably a wise move so you can get a receipt for the drop off.

Went to the email from Samsung and clicked the special pre-order link ("open in new tab"). Selected phone and options. Added to cart and was prompted to log into my Samsung account. After the cart loaded, clicked the E cashback site extension in my Chrome browser and the page reloaded and the extension flashed green showing that I had an active "shopping trip." Completed transaction. Some of these steps here might be unnecessary (like open in new tab), but I'm just presenting what worked for me. [Note: This is the same sequence I followed a few days ago for a prior purchase. However, when I activated the E cashback shopping trip from the browser extension, I did have to log back into my Samsung account. The cart remained the same].
If the above steps don't work, you may need to close your browser....clean cache, history, etc....open browser and start over

A: NO, YOU SHOULD NOT CANCEL YOUR CREDIT CARD!!! It will do nothing to help. In fact, you will end up still having to pay Samsung (they will hunt you down), AND your credit score will take a huge hit. If your trade-in device gets rejected, the proper course of action would be to contact Samsung and provide proof that the device was in working condition prior to you shipping it out in order to try and get the rejection overturned.
