Details: Planet Fitness Black Card $19.99/mo + $39 Annual fee on/around 1 December + $1 startup fee but NO COMMITMENT
http://www.planetfitness.com/offers/1607
Zip Code 45322 Englewood Ohio

Black card gets you into any PF location, use of massage bed or chair, tanning access and a guest age 13+ (who only gets to watch you do that other stuff). It usually has a 12 month commitment and if my local gyms are any indication the price is going up to $21.99/mo.

Expires 22 September

For gym noobs like myself, they have a few times a week where they will sit with you and work out a plan based around your abilities and goals. Yes they have pizza night and bagel day and tootsie rolls at the counter, get over it; you can choose to NOT eat it, learn moderation, or consider how great you are when you're paying for some other junk food. If PF isn't for you, then move along. If you've considered PF in the past, the no commitment black card may be for you before prices jump to $21.99 everywhere.

Because all sign-ups are online, I don't know that it matters what location you sign-up for. (If you care, after 90 days you can switch your "home gym" to something closer to you. If you need an excuse, tell them you're a contractor and work out of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base during the week so you were looking for a gym close to that, they don't care though.)

Background that you don't care about:
I recently started an Intermittent Fasting/Keto style diet and have plateaued at down almost 50 pounds since May. I was looking for a gym to take it to the next level and they are opening a new Planet Fitness a few miles from my house in Northern Kentucky (makes 3 in about 15-20 minutes from my house). They had a deal for the black card at $19.99 with $1 startup fee, NO commitment and $39 annual fee starting in January, but the deal ended 2 September. I stopped by another location to talk to someone and they said that this week, in honor of their 25th anniversary the startup fee would drop to 25 cents, so I thought why not wait. I did and it seems most of the black card monthly rates jumped to $21.99/mo on Sunday. While the rest of the deal holds (no commitment, annual fee starting in January) with the 25 cent startup fee, the $2/mo increase kind of put me off. I work in Ohio and thought I'd check rates around there and found another store "opening soon" with the $19.99 black card, $1 startup fee and $39 annual fee starting 1 December. Just sharing something I consider a deal.

Change the club number in the URL to see local offers.

$22 in Hoboken http://www.planetfitness.com/offers/48, also no commitment.

I signed up at a PF 40 miles away because they had the no commitment offer. With the black card it doesn't matter because it works at all locations. This isn't my main gym however because they don't have free weights other than dumbbells going up to 75lbs. I think that's fine for most people though.

It does kind of matter. While you are welcome to use any PF club in the US, you can do so only up to 10 times a month per club. I'm pretty sure your "home" gym is the one you bought the membership from. So if you bought your membership 40 miles away, you'll only be able to use the PF next to your house 10 times per month. Might not be a big deal to some though or if you have multiple PF clubs close you could rotate it around.

eta: This might be dependent on your PF location. I'd check before signing up for the Black Card.

I signed up but what do I do the first time I go to the gym? Can all gyms pull up my info or do I need to go to my home gym which is in an other state?!

Did you figure this out? They should be able to pull up your info. Curious how it worked out.

I called a few around me (given that in my 95 mile commute I pass about 10 PF locations) and one said there was no limit on the number of visits to the 'non-home' gym, 2 others said it was limited to 10 visits per 'non-home' gym location per month. I honestly will have trouble getting to the gym more than twice a week (going to push for 3x per week but it will be really tough), so it shouldn't matter where I visit.

Planet Fitness is a franchise chain.

The official rule is that you can use a Black Card a maximum of 10 times at gyms outside your home guy (where you bought the membership).

Any franchise outside your home club can choose to let you in more than that, but most won't. The exception is that franchises that own multiple clubs will typically allow you to visit any of their other owned locations with a Black Card as much as you want. But again, it's franchise dependent.

10 times per month per non-home-gym seems to be the response I got from PF. (Example that they confirmed was- I could join near my house, go unlimited, go to one by my work 10 times each month and travel to another state and go there 10 times each month without issue)

in the agreement it showed commitment!

"If your monthly membership has a minimum term, and you wish to cancel your membership before the end of the term for reasons other than those listed in Section 9 of this agreement,
a $58 buyout fee is required."
