Seems like a good deal if a ConEd customer is already looking for a 2017 Nissan LEAF. Cons include, the later 2017 used price in a year or two will likely be low, especially with significant improvements in 2018 LEAF looks and features.

The Chevy BOLT is probably a better investment, with its liquid cooled battery, and double EV range at around 200 miles.

It's still good to see new EV incentives for any EV models!

Renewable hydrogen fuel electric cars are coming. Much cheaper than gasoline with similar mileage and no long recharging required. However, a crash would be very explosive.
Much cheaper? It cost about $100 to fill a Toyota Mirai. I know it may come down a little with economy of scales, but fact is Hydrogen is just another energy conversion step that is not present when you have a dedicated battery vehicle. I don't see how it would ever become cheaper to operate unless you think we will somehow find a cheaper source of hydrogen that doesn't require electricity to produce.

There is certainly some truth to electricity from coal, but most of our electricity today is generated from much cheaper natural gas. Some of us have solar arrays too (granted just a few). Not sure what percentage is from hydroelectric generation.

Another practical concern with this deal going nationwide is that 2017 LEAF used prices are going to fall too.

WOW! How is it almost no one in this thread knows how much environmental damage is caused by the manufacture of each one of these cars?
How is it they don't know how the electricity is made? (hint: coal)
When you buy one of these you are making your neighbors, all of us, help you pay for something that is WORSE for the environment than a regular vehicle.
Check the science.

This isn't a scientific or political forum. I'd suggest you post a better deal on a combustion vehicle so that your argument makes personal financial sense, as well as scientific/political/whatever else. Fwiw, I agree with you but if rebates on a Tesla become available to me I am buying.
