Honestly I would prefer a 120hz G-sync 1080p panel to a non G-sync 60hz 4k panel.

Why does it need 64gb of ram, you're not using it as a SQL server or VM host. Also why are there two SSDs instead of one big one. Some of the specs just needlessly drive the price up.

It's a 120hz G-Sync, so it's going to be TN. I haven't kept super close tabs on things lately so I might be wrong on this, but I don't know that I've seen even a desktop monitor at that high a refresh rate that was IPS.
—also, this laptop is kinda maxed out in most aspects and a 1080's going to put off a fair bit of heat, so I wouldn't expect it to actually be slim. There are some actual slim GTX1080 laptops out there, but they underclock them to be able to shave down the cooling/size.

That is a monster, but the price doesn't seem like that great of a deal. I will wait until Black Friday.

I'm glad I waited, went ahead and pulled the trigger. These specs are pretty darn good for just 2.1k. Here's a review by notebookcheck. [notebookcheck.net] Runs a little toasty, not surprising for the specs, but the good news as stated by the reviewer is that it never throttles. I've gone through a similar spec'd machine by Alienware and their 17R4 model has a terrible heatsink design and not enough cooling for the VRM chips which causes throttling (pretty much pissing away money since you can't reach the full potential given the hardware).
