Costco has issued their $25 off of $250 online coupons again. The Playstation VR headset is $249.99. Just a penny off. If you are like me who buys stuff from costco all the time, it's not hard to insert a filler I would be buying anyways. Otherwise there is a $1.49 bottle of soap to put you over. Eat the price of the soap and it ends up being $224.99 for the VR Headset. I don't think I've seen it cheaper.

You can get the $25 off coupon at the membership desk at your local costco.

Playstation VR headset.

$1.49 soap.

You can use this as a VR headset on a PC through Steam VR. Here's the driver.

You can also do room scale VR with it by using old PS3/PS4 era move motion controllers. Here's the driver for that.

PS3 cameras are on sale for $1.99 at Gamestop.

I leave it up to you to find cheap Move Motion controllers. Recently I've seen them for about $20. They were $5 a couple of years back before Playstation VR came out. That drove the price up.

New PSVR was announced today. The only few things it brings to the table are the following: lower cable clutter, headphone jack on headset instead of control line (with new smaller profile clip-in headphones) and HDR pass through support on the converter box. The cable clutter is minimal, and I actually prefer the current headphone jack location since I use my beyer dynamics instead of the packed in ones. The new plug would cause my cable to hang from the right side of my head, instead of being more centered and at my chest. The last thing is the real kicker, as right now any PSVR user must unplug the device to use HDR functions via their PS4 on their TV. It's a hassle. Now, it won't require that - but it's only of use for those with 4k TVs with HDR support. Definitely something to keep in mind if you're upgrading in the future.

That all said, there's no other technical improvements or improved resolution we'll be seeing on the Playstation ecosystem, at least for a long while. We may see further price reductions, but the MSRP for both models are currently identical.

Great price for those with a limited budget and want to experience it all. I've been having a blast with Rigs, since it's currently free for PS+ users.

Also, it's a Costco purchase, so a return due to buyers remorse or price changes in the near future won't be as difficult compared to anywhere else.

Dont get this, Sony just announced a minor hardware revision for PSVR. Either wait for that or wait for prices of this version to tank

I'd be more likely to buy if it included full PC support as well. Any comments on well trinus works with it?

This is why the price has been dropping. Honestly these new features dont seem that great. Gonna get a gen 1 headset during the holiday

The v2 update fixes an HDR issue with the original PSVR, so if that doesn't matter to you, have at this one.

That new headset isn't very new. Like many things in the Sony mandatory product cycle. Not much has changed. Basically it's the same. And not all Sony products go down in price when the new model comes out. Case in point the NEX 6 and the Sony Z11 laptop. The NEX 6 went down in price right before the A6000 came out then bumped up afterwards. The Z11 went down in anticipation of the Z2 and rocket up after the Z2 was announced.

In regards to Sony 3D headsets. Sony has been cranking out these 3D headsets for far longer than Oculus or HTC or whoever. So there is a price history. The original hmz-t1 from 2011 still sells for $300+ used. At this price, $225, it's cheaper than many people are getting for this PSVR headset used. In many ways, this PSVR headset is the hmz-t4.
