American Airlines have $48, round trip, nonstop airfares between Detroit (DTW) and Miami (MIA). This is a basic economy fare. American's Basic Economy fare limits carry-on bags to one small personal item, such as a purse or laptop bag. All other baggage must be checked for a fee. See below for other restrictions.

Travel availability:
Departs DTW: Oct 10,-12, 17-18, 23-25, 31; Nov 1, 8, 28
Departs MIA: Oct 10-11, 16-18, 23-25, 30-31; Nov 1, 7-8

Use dates and book it on Priceline [priceline.com], Orbitz [orbitz.com] or American Airlines [aa.com] directly. Bundling hotel with airfare will save money.

You should lookup Northern Michigan and the UP. There are tons of beautiful lakes in lower Michigan or you could rent a car and drive Up North and stay there, which is one of the most beautiful places in the country. You can go boating or jet skiing in the summer and skiing or snowmobiling in the winter or hunting if that's your thing. You need to stop watching movies and listening to hearsay and actually travel and learn a thing or two about places. You don't have to vacation for these flights anyway, you could you know go there for business, go to see family, go there and drive across to Canada which is about 5 feet away.

If I lived in either I would totally do this for quick vacation ,eating street food, and staying in Airbnb or budget hotel checking out bars

Darn, I just went for a weekend in Miami a few weeks ago on Spirit ~$100 RT fare, but if I could get one for $50 RT I'd do it again with zero hesitation lol. I wish they had something like this originating from EWR/PHL/ABE/AVP or anything around...

Looking into Detroit to Ft Lauderdale and it's similar price for more dates.. but on Spirit.. dates worked better for me
