Ha. I'm in the same boat. The 770 was on sale like crazy a while back but only in the 16 and 32 ohm versions. I'm hoping to snag a 250ohm 770 soon. In the meantime I jumped on the 880 600ohm deal (which I didn't need) but they do sound great. Haven't heard the 250ohm 880s, but I'm sure the are impressive, especially at this price.

It should but a good headphone amp will really make them sing. Or a cheap mixer... Or any kind of external headphone amp really.

I have the same model, but from 20+ years ago. I've replaced the foam earcups once. Aside from that, nothing but praise. Hopefully they are still of the same quality. I use them with a Yamaha receiver when enjoying "dad's music" or watching movies while the kids are asleep. No fatigue when listening for long periods.
