Pretty new to this equipment. Would I be able to connect an electric guitar directly to either of them so I can record in a DAW?

Yes, I have umc22 and it's great for the price, just use aiso4all drivers, you can get reaper for cheap too... Lots of free vst for all manner of guitar effects. It's very fun to learn...

I purchased the UMC 22, instead of using a USB adapter for recording with my computer. It's a much better option. This is a plastic housing, so don't expect it to last on the road, but it works great otherwise. You really can't go wrong at this price.

They make great bargain DACs. USB Audio 2.0 compliant and now work in Windows 10 with no drivers at full resolution..... after the Fall Creators Update.

I really like my umc202hd (similar to the umc204hd available here) that I got for $50 a couple years ago. I use it as my audio output for our home theater pc. We also karaoke by plugging in a mic or two and mixing with songs from youtube. It sounds good and feels solid too (metal case.)

I bought the UMC22 for $50 a month or two ago - just paired with a neewer condenser mic, and its fantastic. Great quality unit for the money.

Well worth it at this price
