This is a pretty decent deal. Fry's has the model with just a 500gb HD no ssd for $999 after rebate every couple of weeks. The main issue with this machine is the screen. It is a horrible TN panel. It can be replaced on your own for a better panel if you do it yourself for $100 ish.

If you want to see this screen, your local Best Buy has this system on display, not the same specs but it has the same crap screen.

Yeah the speakers suck, there are some heat issues(just do a repaste and your good)..but its a full 1060 and a I7 crammed into a 15 inch that weighs less than 4 pounds!

edit: The one from Fry's has a IPS screen
rofl this is the hilarious accessory bundle that comes as a gift: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Pr...gnorebbr=1

valued at $250!!! if they'd take even half that off the laptop price and keep the junk this deal would be fire.
Basically some stickers, a gaming mouse + pad, backpack, and a... quarter machine toy?

They had a $50 off 500 promo code that just expired yesterday too /insert eyeroll

There was another thread on this unit recently, but the price is now $100 lower than before.

Apparently the CPU of 6700 HQ is hardly that much lesser than the 7700 HQ.

Anyone know if this one has a IPS screen?

weight/thin build is impressive, drop the platter hdd and it'd be even better.

Every time we see a slick deal laptop, there's a compromise.

For this, the screen looks to be TN, 60hz, with no G-Sync. Also, the SSD is will only hold a couple of games and the HDD is a 5400 RPM Seagate. This would be a decent rig, but inadequate for me. Reviews also report that the speakers are very bad.

This is a pretty good laptop. The speakers are very much lacking but headphones or an external will make up for that. You can access the hdd and replace but you would have to go through a fair amount of screws to do that. I feel most anyone can tackle that. I bought the hdd only version and installed my own m2 and replaced the hdd with an ssd. Plus I had no prior experience with opening laptops. However, it was a hella nerve wrecking experience for me. I think is a good deal -- my only issue is upgrading the memory, or hdd you have the remove the mobo.

Anyone have any idea on SRGB coverage? It's all over the map in reviews from low 50s to 80-90%.. would be all over it if it was ~85 and up.

I got the Fry's deal last month and mine came with LG LP156WF6-SPK3 - which is an IPS panel. Not sure if this is consistently the case but wanted to share that mine wasn't TN.
