There's a lot of bad info in this thread about phone compatibility with other carriers, bands, etc.

All Samsung s8, s8+ and note8 devices sold in USA have the same hardware. This means that they do have all the correct bands, modem, etc. as far as the hardware goes. Getting the right bands, etc. enabled is simply a matter of getting the right software (firmware really) installed. It is pretty simple to switch from one firmware to another. Look on XDA for info, there are several guides that will walk you through it step by step.

This means that you can get an XM samsung phone and then put the right firmware on it and have it be fully compatible with ATT/Tmobile/etc. Of course the phone has to be unlocked by XM, simply putting the Tmobile firmware on it won't work if the device is still locked to XM.

Personally I got an s8. I'll wait for the giftcard, then unlock it and switch it to my carrier.

I believe everything I said about the 8 devices is also true for the s7 but I'm not actually going to look into that as I'm not interested in getting an s7.

Deep breaths. Again where in the past 26 pages has this been mentioned/the rationale for it explained. I don't see the logic of why it wouldn't work if the phone was on and the card was in a different phone. You didn't explain why or how but ok I'll take your word for it LOL
It's I'm the op and also lill tricky has covered this numerous timeahas

So, for a FIOS customer in 19040, it looks like I can sign up for new internet only with whatever promo I get, then after internet activation, I can call retention for this $500 offer, get one new line with the cheapest phone (which is how much? ) or get Samsung Note8 AND get another $200?

Then pay off phone anytime to get unlock code, then after getting the rebate cards, cancel the service?

Same here. I received the phone yesterday and activated it. I don't see either $500 or $200 from legal agreement in my account. I also couldn't find a record from https://www.xfinityrewardcenter.com/status. Although when I called xfinity a few days ago the rep confirmed he did see the $500 code in his system. Anyone knows what could be happening behind the scene?
Call the retention department again today, the first agent transfer me to xfinity mobile without even checking anything for me. The xfinity mobile agent not surprisingly wasn't able to see anything in my account. Made another call to retention, another agent check my account and say I should be eligible but wasn't able to provide any prove of that, then when I asked about the 200 for samsung, he said that it should come from samsung directly, and I'll need to call them to confirm. What a chaos. Without any prove (no email, nothing in xfinity account), I'm expecting a fight to get these gift cards. Sadwalk

I've had Xfinity internet for 10 months and called retention today to ask if they could add the $500 gift card if I began mobile service. Within a few minutes, they added it to my account, asked me to confirm by text link, and I was ready to order my phone. They said I had to order the phone over the ... phone.... through retention, otherwise it wouldn't be valid. Also, they can unlock your phone from day 1, no waiting necessary if you request it. Both the $200 and the $200 gift cards will be available in 14-18 weeks, so although they ship separately, their timelines are around the same.

I just called and got both the $500 and $200 gift cards. I am in NJ for reference in case anyone wonders whether this is an "eligible" area. Called the 800# and said "cancel service" then explained FiOS is now in the area and has a better offer and he basically updated my package to the new triple play price (not too happy, it's only $15 less) and then offered the $500 gift card for Xfinity Mobile. I am porting my number over from Verizon.

At first he was insisting that you can't get both gift cards and I asked him to check and he came back and said yes you can get both. It was his first time doing an Xfinity Mobile order.

Got the Note 8 coming! Thank you to the OP!! Applause

I already have Xfinity internet for $60/month, so I do not need to subscribe to anything additional to get this deal. If you don't have Comcast, don't want Comcast, and need a Triple Play, no, it's not a good deal.

Do we have to fill any mail in rebate for $500 and $200 gift cards? If not is there any other criteria or condition apart from 90 day line active

Got mine today courtesy of the Xfinity rep who posted in the thread. Took about 20 mins. Picked up an S8 and Note8. With insurance and by the gig plan and both phones financed at 0% my monthly is $99 With taxes. If I bump my phone to unlimited it's $135, about $60 a month cheaper than my current tmobile plan on 2 paid for devices. With selling my S7s and the 3 rebates I'll take home about $1400 on top of significant monthly savings. No brainer.

I reached out to him via IM earlier today and haven't heard anything back. I hope I'm his area and/or hear back from him. I actually want XM and have been planning to switch to it for my wife.

Just called and said "cancel services" into the automated menu, got through to Retention, the guy told me he could not do the deal and he would transfer me to XM mobile department. I said I had heard it needed to be through Retentions, he said that was incorrect and transferred me.

The guy in the XM Mobile dept said I only qualified for the $500 GC if I were a brand new internet customer (I am not, I have internet and TV for a couple years now).

I called back, got a different Retentions rep, she said Retentions can not set up mobile, it has to be done through mobile department. Transferred me, different mobile guy said it's only for new internet customers.

I'm in MD, and calling the number in OP.

Final edit: Third time was the charm, guy in Retentions said "yeah we do have that deal, and I wish I knew about it when I signed up!" He attached the $500 to my account, and then transferred me to the Mobile dept, who verified that the $500 was showing up in my account and they completed the order.
Same here. First couple of retention reps didn't want to give me the deal. Simply saying if I want to cancel, they will cancel my service. Transferred to xm mobile, I asked the deal, then got transferred back to retention, then this guy just gave me. Also from MD.
