You need a blender to do that.

I have the Vitamix and I love it, but if you are going to use it as a food processor, or use it for nut butters, other thick things, I do not recommend it. The blades push everything down and it is difficult to get thick processed foods out. I think they sell another container for that (which is very expensive).

I purchased the Vitamix because Blendtec had complaints about mold growing in the gaskets or something, I am unsure if that is still an issue.

You're referring to the Wildside jar which was included in this deal. I've had this blender for 15 years and used almost daily for the majority of that time. I've had to replace the jar once. I chose the Blendtec over the Vitamix because 1) it fit under my standard cupboard/counter height (with jar) and 2) I read enough research about the masticating benefits of the blunt blades of the Blendtec over the standard sharp blades of the Vitamix. I've made just about everything you can imagine in my Blendtec over the years - it's been a beast!

Also the Wildside jars are extremely easy to scrape out.
