Thanks for your helpful comment. I think you are very special because you own the ultra model. I own the ultra as well and it makes me feel special too, but would argue that if you don't need the optical port for audio, then you don't need an ultra because the performance gain is negligible.
Comparing this to the Ultra 2017 is pointless. Like 99% of all tech, the higher trim level will always have a few more niche features and is probably going to be faster than last year's model.
With that being said, performance wise, the Premiere+ is equal to the Ultra 2016 (which was absolutely no slouch) with the exception of some niche features (like optical digital out and remote finder). Also, these higher level Roku's are reaching the point of diminishing returns on performance (how much quicker can menus load?). The Premiere+, Ultra 2016 and Ultra 2017 all handle 4K streaming without a hiccup.
Really? The difference between the current Ultra and the Premiere + is almost negligible.
Voice search,
a couple lame game buttons on the remote,
a different screen saver,
USB connection,
and lost remote finder.
That's about the the only difference. Otherwise, they have the same processor, same 4k UHD capability, same microSD card slot, Point anywhere/volume control remote, same wireless AC+ethernet.
Last year's Ultra had optical audio out, but the 2017 version eliminated that.
I've seen side by side performance comparisons and the speed difference in the Ultra is a wash.
BTW, I own two Premiere+ and one 2016 Ultra so I've had some experience with these models. No significant difference.

What?
Premier, Premier +, and any other version = crap.
Period.
Any deals on the Ultra?
