Just grabbed two Ecobee from Lowe's last week.
Ordering from Mass Save to avoid hassle on rebate and return one I bought from Lowe's.
Nest Thermostat E - 2 Pack is $58 dollars.
Single unit normally runs at $169, so I would definitely consider this as option. I would have grabbed this if I did not purchase Ecobee from Lowe's last week and plan to use arriving units to return to avoid rebate.

As far as I know there's very little difference. The 4 has Alexa built in and has very minor cosmetic changes. I don't think there's any reason to spend money on "upgrading".
