As of the latest update from Wirecutter, the Skybell HD (essentially the same as this one) is still the best wireless doorbell.
"By using a discount code, you agree that the device you are purchasing with a discount code is for your own personal use and not for resale. If SkyBell purchases a device that is offered for resale, and the serial number matches the serial number of the device you purchased using a discount code, you agree that SkyBell can charge your credit card the cost SkyBell incurred to purchase the device (including shipping, taxes, and fees), plus a $75 restocking fee. Discount codes are only valid while supplies last."
FYI people. I have the SkyBell HD and the sensors they use on them are IR motion detection sensors. This sensor is lacking compared to a motion image detection type system like the Ring Pro which will allow you to set detection fields to avoid places like cars going bye and starts when a significant amount of change in the image occurs based on your settings.
The SkyBell you cannot set a field and you have to position it correctly to get it to trigger change properly as IR sensors fire off several splits of the IR beam and when a certain number of beams are changed by crossing their path it triggers the recording based on sensitivity.
I've had mailmen, UPS, neighbors and such during certain parts of the day walk straight up to the door because of sunlight interference and such never setting it off. Also the distance is limited by sensor which the image one works better as it can detect a bit further.
I do not own a Ring Pro. I own a SkyBell HD and I am disappointed in it's performance because of the sensor restrictions. So if you're looking for a good doorbell the Ring Pro with image motion detection is a better choice in my honest opinion as the SkyBell has flaws in motion detection. So if getting this for monitoring front door for deliveries, package theft, thiefs, etc this is probably not the doorbell for you with its motion detection lackage.
They are both similar for setup, ease of installation and use except ring will hold your videos hostage for $3 per month and skybell is free.

For a novice tech person, which is better, this or the Ring Pro? Not too worried abt the $$$, just want something they'll be able to manage/operate w/o too much trouble. TIA
